1964: A small girl walking down a street in Hemphill, Kentucky.

  1. I will guessing there are still plenty of plces in Appalachia that still look exactly the same, but even more worn down and with newer (but crappy) cars.

  2. I imagine every house had a pot belly coal stove. Not every house had a television, but an AM radio was always tuned into a baseball game, country station or a yelling preacher. Knob and tube electric power with exposed copper connections in the attic. It would be at least one more year before anyone there heard of the Beatles and when they did, they hated them.
