Local pick up pre-lock s&w 38 snubs. Anybody have an idea of what they are or how to clean up?

  1. Don't "clean them up" beyond a wipe down with a cloth and some oil. They look like they've got some pretty great character to them and it would be a shame to undo that. Refinished revolvers rarely look good.

  2. I personally wouldn’t clean them up. I mean do a basic wipe down and brush down the bore and cylinders to ward off corrosion, but they have a lot of character and bonus you won’t worry about messing them up.

  3. Looks like a blued model 36. The latch looks to be from a pretty early model. The other is either a nickel plated 36 or a model 60.
