My bunny just passed away

  1. My bunny died suddenly as well a few days ago. The shock makes the grief so much worse, right? Writing him a goodbye letter and reading it to him where his napping spot was helped give me a little closure. I'm sorry for your loss.

  2. I’m so sorry for your loss as well. The shock is overwhelming. Writing a note is a great suggestion and I’m going to try that. Was your bunny bonded to another bunny? If so, how is the surviving bunny getting on?

  3. My parrot passed suddenly last year and I’m still trying to process it. Grief in general sucks but it hits different for sure. I’m sorry to hear about your bunny and I hope they Rest In Peace.

  4. as im reading this post , i am waiting to take my rabbit into vet to be put down. i have no advice, but i want to say i am right here grieving with you. it’s never easy to lose these little guys. just try and remember that you gave him the best life possible

  5. Thank you for your kind words. I’m so sorry you’re going through a similar situation. We’re right here with you as well. Bless you for staying next to your bunny in his/ her darkest hour. You’re a good bun parent

  6. I lost a rabbit suddenly 3 years ago. Same behavior as your bunny and euthanized at the ER. We think he had organ cancer that ruptured and bled into his abdominal cavity. We have his ashes in a little box on our mantle. We've lost 2 other rabbits before who were a couple so we put their ashes in a shadow box behind the picture of them when they first met. All the deaths were cancer. It's so hard. How I dealt with the loss was to adopt a new rabbit in need of a home. It made me feel better to comfort the surviving buns and to give a suffering bunny a good and loving home. I've had 4 for 3 years now.

  7. That’s an awesome tattoo. I have three tattoos so I love the idea. My condolences for your loss. I can tell he was an amazing bunny and you were a great bun parent

  8. I'm so sorry for your loss. Such a cute bun, it's so tough to see these little furfriends leave us. My little friend left me about 3 months ago, also very suddenly. I wish the best of luck and lots of love!! ❤️❤️

  9. So sorry for your loss! I lost my buns earlier this year and it’s never easy when it’s so sudden! Have to just remember all the fun times together and go through pictures and videos. I got a skyurn to have him in the house and replace the flowers often so he’s always still around.

  10. I’ve never heard of Skyurn. I just googled it and it looks pretty cool. Thanks for your suggestion. Did you lose two buns? That must’ve been so hard

  11. Oh, I am so sorry for your loss. 💕 Your bunny was well loved and that’s what matters. Virtual hugs from a fellow bunny-parent. We’re not strangers here, just friends who haven’t met in person

  12. You hit the nail on the head. I feel like I can’t even think straight because the despair is so strong. It sounds like you were an amazing bun parent too. RIP to your little one.

  13. I had a similar thing happen. My bunny Guss was eating and acting normal the days before and then one morning when I woke up he was completely lethargic and I rushed him to the vet. They took him back to do an X-ray and he died on the X-ray table and they couldn’t get him back. It destroyed me so I know what you’re feeling. I’m so sorry for your loss. Pepper was a beautiful bunny and clearly very loved and cared for. I hope you find peace knowing you gave Pepper a great loving life. And even if pepper had lived 17 years, it still wouldn’t be long enough for us bunny lovers. We always want them to live forever. And surely, pepper wouldn’t have lived as long as he did without the amazing care you gave him and not giving up on him when he had to have those liver surgeries. You are the best hooman a bunny can ask for.

  14. Awww thank you 🙏. I plan on adopting again soon. I’m so sorry for your loss. It’s so similar to Peppers situation too. Poor little buns, we did our best. No amount of time with them ever feels like enough ❤️

  15. One of my bunnies died last week. I’m so sorry. I got myself a memorial gift on Etsy and have just been allowing myself to feel the feelings. I’ve had bunnies for over 20 years and each death is still so hard.

  16. I'm so sorry! Peppers was gorgeous ❤️ Remind yourself of all the lovely times you shared-- even though he's not with you, you'll always have those memories.

  17. I’m really sorry for you lost. I hope you recover from loosing your little angel. You were a wonderful bun parent and he lived a life full of love. Adopting a new bunny will help you a lot. There are many abandon rabbits waiting for a wonderful soul like u ❤️🙏

  18. Yes! I think Peppers would want me to rescue another bun and give them a great home. Maybe even another special needs bun like him.

  19. I'm so so sorry to hear that you've lost your bun :( It's been nearly a year since I lost one of mine and it was incredibly difficult at first, but it does get better!Something I found that helped with the grief was having a way I could always remember him. I ended up planting a banana tree over his grave and everytime I go out and see it flourishing, it makes me happy seeing that he is still living in a way.

  20. 😭I’m sure they’re binkying together and doing zoomies. I like the plant idea, I’m going to look into something similar.

  21. My bunny just passed yesterday, do u have any advice that u have gained in the past 47 days. I don’t feel like living anymore

  22. Hey there, wow I am so sorry for your loss. First of all, there is an entire community here that totally gets what you’re going through. It’s not too much and you’re not overreacting. When Peppers passed, it was as if my baby had passed. Here’s a few things I’ve learned here and from some other bunny communities online.
