Sunrise to Sunset at Colter Bay, Grand Teton National Park

  1. Colter Bay is a developed area on the eastern shore of Jackson Lake, the largest lake in Grand Teton National Park. There is a picturesque marina, backed by stunning views of Mt. Moran and the Teton Range, as well as a campground, dining and lodging options, several hiking trails, and a National Park Visitor Center. It’s a great place to watch the sun go down, and an even better place to watch it come up again!

  2. I was going to ask when these were taken before I saw your comment. I was there a week ago and the water levels, especially at Colter Bay, were so low - it looked to be almost 8 to 10 feet lower and the “marina” was very dry. Water levels at Jenny, String, and Leigh Lakes were were down a foot or two, not nearly as extreme as Lake Jackson.

  3. It's quite sad that they had to build a docking area for people to enjoy "leisurely" activities instead of trying to leave the landscape as natural as it could be while still accommodating hikers, observers, etc.

  4. I'm in the same boat as you. Boats dump a bunch of oil and other junk into the water. If you want to experience the lake on water, get a canoe or kayak

  5. The hike out to the point is tremendous. Prime grizzly sighting spot in late spring/early summer. Bring your bear spray!

  6. Great pictures. Simply because I’ve been obsessing over ND filters lately, I think that shot of Mount Moran would look amaaaazing with a long exposure.

  7. Just go. Don't wait for the perfect time. Just do it. Time is precious. Just get in your car and drive there. Sleep in your car if you have to. Do whatever it takes. Don't miss out on things you want to do in life. We are not guarantied tomorrow.
