1994 f250 7.3 turbo powerstroke with a 5spd ZF5 manual trans. Im trying to put my trans back in. It keeps hitting the Down pipe. Any tips? Cutting off the down pipe is not an option.
You can try lifting or lowering your engine a little bit to change the approach angle for mating the transmission to it. This may give you the bit of extra clearance that you need.
Thanks for posting on
Why not just unbolt the downpipe for a moment?
From the research I’ve done you can’t unbolt it you have to cut it off.

When I installed the ZF5 on my IDI, I had to use a jack and a block of wood on the back of the engine to clear everything and line it up.
Where on the engine did you jack it up? The only place that looks accessible for me is the oil pan and I don’t want to risk that haha
