J. Cole is likely a struggling rapper, because if you observe closely, he has no chain around his neck. I think he's homeless too judging from the way he dresses man. I hope he pops off and things work out for him 🙏
I wrote my final Lit thesis on these guys being "the trilogy of rap" in 2017 lol. Kendrick being the Mind, Drake being the Heart, and Cole being the Soul.
Because Kanye mainly blew up in the mid 2000’s and Kendrick and Drake and Cole all came on the rap scene so heavy hitting. Like Drake dropped Take Care which started solidifying him up and Kendrick dropped GKMC which put him on up and Cole was gaining the same attention with 2014 FHD. These three would then go onto run 2010’s rap that’s why they are always compared.
I feel like it's mostly because Kendrick, Cole and Drake all started getting recognition around the same time whilst Ye was already one of the biggest names in Hiphop and came out in a different era compared to them.
Drake became a huge star in 2011, Kendrick in 2012 and Cole in 2013. At that point Kanye was far more established with CD, LR & Graduation under his belt.
Probably just that those three are more or less the same age and started at more or less the same time, Kanye's 10 years older and was already established when they came out
Because Kanye was most popular in the mid 2000’s and Kendrick and Drake and Cole all came on the rap scene so heavy hitting. I don’t think understand why y’all try to shoehorn Ye into this convo? He’s been in the Industry since the nineties, and dropped his multiplatinum debut in 04 and is a well known influence on the three of them. He was well established and solidified before they made any type of noise
Kanye also is one of, if not the greatest producer ever too. I view him at his peak as an unbelievable producer and creator of worlds. He's a great rapper too.
They all came up around the same time and had ties to each other in different ways whether it be inadvertently or blatantly. They’re were also the best selling for their respective lanes and had a lot of the same fanbase. So they’ve always been connected and praised as the “Big 3”.
Cole and Lamar yes, but Drake? Don’t get me wrong I’m a fan but I think the other two are compared a lot because of the depth of spiritual and philosophical exploration they do through their music. I don’t feel the same about Drake.
Apart from fan base, those 2 have nothing on or nowhere near Kendrick. Cole is great with features but his own albums are just above average and as for Drake, well he's making same song since 2016. I like to compare Kendrick with Freddie Gibbs and JID in the new generation of rappers.
They all from same generation of rap. Back in mid 2010s you would see the influence on any rap fan from either of these rappers. they truly represent 2010s wave of rap
J and K are two good argumentative topics on who’s better. But I don’t see Drake needing to be in the discussion because he been getting shared bars like he got the bottom bunk of a two man cell
Good question. I think it's because they are rappers
J. Cole is likely a struggling rapper, because if you observe closely, he has no chain around his neck. I think he's homeless too judging from the way he dresses man. I hope he pops off and things work out for him 🙏
Make an educated guess homie
They’re famous rappers!!
Big artists of this generation
Can u put it in Fortnite terms please?
Is J cole rly? Someone like Travis Scott is more popular
Cause their debut albums came out within ~3 years of each other and are all very successful, even outside of rap/hip-hop circles
Cole makes us feel empowered, Kenny makes us think about it and Drake showed us to put hot sauce in a condom after hooking up.
Drake might be a savior
fr
I guess being the three biggest hip hop artists of the past 10 years can cause that to happen.
Kanye?
Kanye & Future have been much bigger than Cole
I wrote my final Lit thesis on these guys being "the trilogy of rap" in 2017 lol. Kendrick being the Mind, Drake being the Heart, and Cole being the Soul.
yeah that thesis sounds pretty Lit
A doctor at 23? Go crazy?
If you don't mind me asking what's your socio-economic background like?
Make a follow up thesis comparing Carti and 6ix9ine
I wanna read it
Wouldn’t they be a trinity or trio, not a trilogy? Also “The _____”, like they are the definitive group of three or whatever.
Cause they've comfortably been the best of the rest for at least a decade.
They’re the middle children, all blew up very early 2010s
Dem niggas been on fire for two decades with no signs of burning out
1 decade
Because Kanye mainly blew up in the mid 2000’s and Kendrick and Drake and Cole all came on the rap scene so heavy hitting. Kendrick, Drake, and Cole all started at the same time and are all in their mid 30’s.
Kendrick made you think about it, Cole made you feel empowered, Drake made you feel lesbian, but they’re not your saviors.
there is no comparison. these 3 are all in entirely different lanes
Everyone?
Biggest Hip-Hop artists of the 2010s
I don’t understand why people never put Kanye in this conversation, his discography is as impressive and honestly more impressive than all of them
I feel like it's mostly because Kendrick, Cole and Drake all started getting recognition around the same time whilst Ye was already one of the biggest names in Hiphop and came out in a different era compared to them.
Drake became a huge star in 2011, Kendrick in 2012 and Cole in 2013. At that point Kanye was far more established with CD, LR & Graduation under his belt.

Because Kanye is in the generation before them. A couple generations at that.
I don’t think understand why y’all try to shoehorn Ye into this convo? He’s been in the Industry since the nineties, and dropped his multiplatinum debut in 04 and is a well known influence on the three of them. He was well established and solidified before they made any type of noise
More than Cole and especially Drake I agree.
Ye is arguably the most talented, influential and creative artist of his generation…but he is not a great rapper.
No one is slighting Kanye here. He came up significantly earlier. These guys all started their takeover in 2011-2012.
I don't understand how Kanye fans don't understand that Ye's era was 50 cent, Wayne, etc.
Kanye also is one of, if not the greatest producer ever too. I view him at his peak as an unbelievable producer and creator of worlds. He's a great rapper too.
Definitely deserves to be there in place of Drake and jcole who are decidedly boring
Cuz Kendrick is the best Cole is the favorite And drake is the mainstream leader rn
Kendrick is more of the favorite than Cole
as a rapper kendrick is way ahead of these two
It was an era
Cuz they all mad talented
Sales
In 2009 or 2010 Kendrick Drake J Cole Big Sean and Wale were on the cover of a magazine dubbed “leaders of the new school” or something like that
3 biggest hip hop artists of the past 10 years lol
I understand Kendrick and Cole but not Drake. drake is trash
Kind of same generation
throw kanye in there for 4 goats of 2010s
Nah you could say that with him and Lil Wayne, and Jay-Z for the 2000’s.
fucking drake? are you serious? aubrey "lesbian" graham? are we really putting him in the same conversation? what are yall smoking?
why did you put quotation marks on lesbian, he’s clearly a lesbian girl he said so himself
Take Care, NWTS, and IYRTITL are all classics wym
Yea drake is a horrible rapper
That's what I'm saying. I don't even engage with someone comparing him to Kendrick.
Yea idk why he’s in the convo lol I barely even consider him rap
3 most popular rap artists of the 2010s. nothing more than that
One of these doesn’t belong
Bro tried to sneak drake in there đź’€
Top 3 artists of their generation, the order you rank them is personal preference
its literally just that they were the most promising newcomers in a span of like 4-5 years.
They all came up around the same time and had ties to each other in different ways whether it be inadvertently or blatantly. They’re were also the best selling for their respective lanes and had a lot of the same fanbase. So they’ve always been connected and praised as the “Big 3”.
All Goats and are close in age.
Idk about drake lol
They all came up around the same time (2009-12), and are the three biggest rappers, commercially, and culturally, from that era.
Same era.
Cole and Lamar yes, but Drake? Don’t get me wrong I’m a fan but I think the other two are compared a lot because of the depth of spiritual and philosophical exploration they do through their music. I don’t feel the same about Drake.
Plus the goat label should be reserved to people writing their own lyrics.
Because they’re the GOAT’s of this generation?
Kendrick Lamar the Prophet
Imagine all three make a song together
They're the big 3
As far as lyrics and flow, I can understand why Kendrick and cole are always compared. But I would get rid of drake and wager JID.
Apart from fan base, those 2 have nothing on or nowhere near Kendrick. Cole is great with features but his own albums are just above average and as for Drake, well he's making same song since 2016. I like to compare Kendrick with Freddie Gibbs and JID in the new generation of rappers.
no one compares drake to these two legends really!
Because it's fun to have debates!
Because they are considered that era’s “greats” in a sense
They all from same generation of rap. Back in mid 2010s you would see the influence on any rap fan from either of these rappers. they truly represent 2010s wave of rap
Literally nobody does
The 3 biggest rappers of the 2010s
Most popular came out at the same tirn
Because this generation has way less talent to compare against each other 🤷🏽‍♂️
Only idiots do drake is a pop star and is irrelevant
Drake is definitely not comparable
everything about these 3 are debate
Popular rappers during the same era, that are around the same age. Imo drake and Kendrick are both genre defining
I often compare only 1 and 3. I don’t think lyrically and as far as beats go have a I ever thought about drake in that conversation.
Cause niggas can't get off Drakes creepy dick
omg! talent! no talent (except for the if youre reading this album). talent!
They are the three biggest rappers form their generation of rap. And Kendrick and Cole are conscious rappers.
they stuck in the mid 2010’s
Same generation? I mean same time the went A list
Cum
Modern West Coast Goat - Modern Commercial Goat - Modern East Coast Goat
I can never right my wrong until someone else writes my songs... P.S....
Cole and Kendrick for obvious reasons. Drake third wheeling.
J and K are two good argumentative topics on who’s better. But I don’t see Drake needing to be in the discussion because he been getting shared bars like he got the bottom bunk of a two man cell
Jay-Z Diddy NAS
One of them doesn’t belong, and I’m sure we’re all thinking the same thing
Comparing drake to kendrick and cole to me personally is like comparing a dog to a goat
best, trash and goated
Sales, genres, audience age.
Replace Drake with Kanye. Its kinda given that Kendricks way better than Drake.
don’t know because kendrick wipes both so hard
I don't know but Kendrick by far the best off that trio.
Idk but they aren't comparable at all Kendrick>>>>>>>>J Cole>>Drake
NIG
3 headed monster of our era. cole got surpassed by tyler
Yuck
