EU Set to Ban Russian Crypto Payments After Referenda

  1. Are there anonymous ways to on-ramp into monero though? Because the place that always seems most vulnerable is the cash-in/cash-out point

  2. Good that monero focused on decentralization by still having cpu mining and continually increases the security features for users running a full node

  3. So, the moral of the story kids is hold your own keys, get all of your tokens and coins off of these exchanges. Self custody them in your own wallet.

  4. Probably one of those "don't get caught" laws. They can't actually stop anyone from moving (most) crypto from one wallet to another. Excluding centralized shitcoins like USDT or USDC with wallet blacklist functions

  5. It is dumb and it won't succeed. I know guy from Russia and he told nothing changed in crypto for him. Western exchanges are gone, but they still have Russian ones. And no one can stop sending crypto from one wallet to other one, even internationally cause of how blockchain work.

  6. I'm assuming it'll be stronger efforts targeting on/off ramping. What you're saying is right, but its about making it as hard as possible for them to do business etc..

  7. Meh, they can probably only exchange their Ruble for anything so their buying power is almost gone.

  8. The only one getting fucked by all these measures against Russia is the EU themselves. Just like the European energy crisis is entirely the result of the EU's own sanctions against Russia.

  9. Unfortunately with the war in Ukraine and thanks to god damn Russia, all hopes for a sovereign Europe have vanished for decades to come.

  10. And the best part is, you guys are within firing range for their policy, so your people gets to take all the bullets while they dictate the rules.

  11. "The European Union will tighten restrictions on Russians’ crypto investments within the bloc as it seeks to respond to "sham" independence votes being held in Russian-occupied regions of Ukraine. Novum Alpha CEO says Chinese investors might snap up digital assets now as the yuan depreciates. The California Department of Financial Protection and Innovation (DFPI) filed cease-and-desist orders against 11 little-known crypto firms Tuesday."

  12. This proxy war is getting out of control. We've been letting these rich assholes shit on us for too long. It's beyond time for a political revolution.

  13. How do you ban Russian crypto payments? Do you look at ip addresses in Russia? Wtf does this even mean. Someone pls explain

  14. TLDR: The European Union will tighten restrictions on Russians’ crypto investments within the bloc as it seeks to respond to "sham" independence votes being held in Russian-occupied regions of Ukraine.

  15. Well , in the past EU tried to talk a lot and intertwine the EU and Russian economy, in the hope that Russia won't do something stupid because they knew this would risk them a lot of money. This idea was pushed by Germany(and other countries) and it back fired. Because in the end EU became more dependent on Russian resources and it did not stop Russia from annexing Crimea. After that they tried symbolic sanctions and strong worded letters. This obviously did not work at all. So what options have they left? They have to do something(pressure from within the EU) but cannot and want not to send their own soldiers to Moscow due to the risk of global annihilation. So now they are trying a different approach. Cutting bonds and introduce real sanctions.

  16. Those are big statements with no merit. How are you even going to track crypto payments to ban it? There is a reason crypto payments are chosen..:)

  17. tldr; The European Union will tighten restrictions on Russians' crypto investments within the bloc as it seeks to respond to "sham" independence votes being held in Russian-occupied regions of Ukraine. The California Department of Financial Protection and Innovation has filed cease-and-desist orders against 11 little-known crypto firms.

  18. If the state can ban their geopolitical enemies from participating in the financial system they can ban you too. Decentralization is the only answer and will allow billions of people to escape the tyrannical control the state has over their economic life.

  19. Our enemy isn't the country invading its neighbors, committing war crimes, and threatening the world with nukes? I disagree.

  20. They want to do so much on crypto but they don't tell how they want to achieve it. Cause they can't! Crypto fud from the EU nothing more.
