What are the most overused, redundant and annoying comments on reddit?

  1. Yes, but then how would the rest of the world know that this individual is saving a comment for their own personal use?

  2. Man, a lot of people really are just bots who only repeat whatever was last positively reinforced. As funny as this thread is it’s also kind of creeping me out.

  3. The very existence of this thread shows at least sometimes Reddit is able to question itself and break free of that mentality.

  4. I saw a bot repost something the other day, then it had a conversation with another bot that was a regurgitation of comments from the original post. I had laughed at the exchange until someone exposed it as a bot further down the thread. I was fully convinced that two actual humans were having a conversation, it was really creepy.

  5. This is a small example of how social media is influencing all of us. People modify how they interact because they know what will get the most upvotes. Similarly people modify what they post on other platforms because they know what will get the most views likes and comments. What determines what gets the most views likes and comments? Surely it’s the users who are viewing liking and commenting? No. It’s the algorithms these platforms use to push content to people. These algorithms don’t just “decide” what the most common comments on Reddit are. They decide what kind of writing and reporting journalists do, what kind of broadcasting “The News” pushes out; algorithms control your thoughts, feelings and motives.

  6. Glad this one sorta seems to be dying out, but when it was at peak popularity I wanted to launch myself out of orbit every time I saw it.

  7. Or just is a really benign opinion. I saw one yesterday that was like "I'm going to get downvoted to hell for this, but I've had really good experiences with X product" in a thread for discussing that type of product.

  8. It's just being publicly horny while maintaining plausible deniability. Just saying "you're hot" would be more dignified.

  9. Or insisting that the post is only getting attention because the girl/woman included herself in the picture. Similarly, giving women a hard time for including themselves in pictures and acting like men never do the same.

  10. Or they find some bizarre way to twist it so that the idea looks terrible. Like taking “find something nice to say to someone every day” and making it sound like you should stalk one particular person every day and shower them with random compliments.

  11. Every fucking sub i go to these days. "Not every Orc needs to be green" "Short people can kick ass to if they are like super trained" "Can i be into crochet without liking making blankets?"

  12. Reddit arguments are a real minefield of things that sound intuitive or legitimate but are ultimately fallacious or even nonsensical if you take a minute to think about them, but people latch on to what sounds right, not what’s actually the best argument. These days I just end a lot of conversations with “agree to disagree” or “I really respect your right to an opinion on this.” or something similar. I guess I worry that if someone is reading the conversation and it ends with whatever that person’s intuitive sounding but ultimately wrong opinion is that they’ll think there was just no possible rebuttal and they’ll be more likely to believe something false. “Agree to disagree” at least let’s them know there might be some further discussion to be had there it just wasn’t worth having at that moment.

  13. I hate this so much. I hate that all of my comments explaining things have to devolve into tangents explaining that I'm aware of the exceptions, but they don't apply because x. And STILL those comments make it through, either because they didn't read the whole comment or they just didn't understand.

  14. When I went on a first aid course, there was that guy who wanted to know "but what if..." for everything. So at one point the teacher said "I know what you're going to say. What if a pregnant diabetic is stuck up a mountain with a broken leg which causes a heart attack? It's a common scenario".

  15. The worst are on huge subreddits when people say “am I the only one?” No. You’re not. There’s 3 million people in here. Doesn’t even matter what it is, you’re not the only person who thinks or has it

  16. I have an unbridled hatred of the "This" comments. I have no real reason for it. but every time i see someone say "this". I feel this uncontrollable urge to commit many war crimes.

  17. The interesting thing about this is, you could send a message to them, thanking them. I get a message telling me I can do just that... Announcing thanks is just asking for more attention, imo.

  18. I hate the 69 thing. Like they don’t know they aren’t the end all be all and that someone else will upvote as proven by the extra 300 upvotes to the original comment

  19. "Tell me that you are using an overused comment without telling me that you are using an overused comment". It is hard to hate a comment more than I hate that comment.

  20. The balls comments. Every hero post, every Zelensky post, etc. etc., it's "titanium balls", "iron balls", "jacked from carrying around those giant balls", "how does he get in a car with those giant--"

  21. Same with shitting pants jokes in subs that show videos of scary or surprising events happening to people.

  22. Oh god yes reddits obsession with balls never ceases to amaze me. I wish these trends would die off quicker than they do. It's like people learn one phrase and then parrot it for months, when memes really should have a lifetime measured in weeks at most.

  23. Reading all these answers is like going through every popular subreddit comment section in one go. And I'm not sure how I feel about it

  24. Anne frankly, I did nazi that coming. I literally came here to say this but boy, that escalated quickly so to the top with you! Lost it at 'This is why we can't have nice things' and then my faith in humanity was restored, my mind blown, and manly tears were shed. Well said. As a 'murican, I can confirm this gem has just won the internet and is doing it right. Just sayin', I know that feel, bro, and while that was a risky click, this post was a 9/10, 11/10 with rice, would read again. I see what you did there and it feels good man. You're doing God's work, son. I laughed way harder than I should have at your list that seems legit and totally nailed it. You - I like you. You magnificent bastard; you, sir, are so brave, a gentleman and a scholar, and seeing how you are a redditor for 4 years, this checks out, so I'll allow it. I regret that I only have one upvote to give for this cool story, bro. CTRL+F "about tree fiddy" was not disappointed. Wait, why do I have you tagged as "NOPE NOPE NOPE"? Nice try, you monster. You are now banned from

  25. When someone asks a question and a person comments "I don't know" if you don't know then the questions clearly isn't for you and you don't need to comment on every single post you come across.

  26. Not annoying but a little silly. People who use a throwaway and then mention specifically " I am using a throwaway because people I know are on Reddit" and then proceed to tell a very specific story.

  27. To be fair, breaking up will solve any relationship problems. In the same way that dying will solve all your health problems.

  28. There is always someone who replies to those “dodged a bullet” comments that has to up the scale of the weapon dodged too. Like “More like he dodged a nuke amiright? Lololol”. Hate those even more.

  29. When people begin their sentence with, “it’s almost as if…” Sounds incredibly douchey every time

  30. Here's some others: "Read that twice" and "Let that sink in". No thanks, my reading comprehension is fine. It's just so pretentious and condescending I want to smack them.

  31. Whenever someone disagrees with you, and they don’t have a counter argument. Immediate gaslighting with; “Are you Ok?”

  32. “Are we just gonna ignore _____” and yet it’s all anyone noticed and most of the comments mentioned
