1990 mustang wipers don’t touch the window and make a very loud clicking noise half way through the wipe.

  1. Clicking is probably due to worn linkage bushings or bad wiper motor. Not touching is probably due to the springs on the under side of the wiper arm being worn/broke/stretched.

  2. Clicking = worn bushings in the wiper transmission, you can get replacements off the HELP rack in many parts stores. Not touching is corrosion in the pivot point. Turn on wipers, when they get to the top of the sweep turn off the key. Take some break free, WD-40, PBlaster and spray it at the pivot point in the arm near the socket that holds it to the wiper transmission shaft. Then gently start lifting and lowering the arm away from and back down to the windshield until it moves freely.
