The World Health Organization (WHO) named a country in which no cases of infection with the SARS-CoV-2 virus were recorded — it turned out to be North Korea. According to the WHO, the DPRK government did not notify them of any serious incident. The information that was known about the incidence in the country was provided by the media.

“WHO is not aware of any reports of a serious incident related to the weakening of anti-epidemic measures, except for those shared by the media. According to the latest updated information on COVID-19 provided to WHO by the government (as of June 24), no cases of COVID-19 have been registered in the DPRK so far,” the press service of the organization reported.

Earlier, North Korean leader Kim Jong-un said that the country was facing a “big crisis”, as he had to dismiss party officials for neglecting their duties due to the inability to take measures to protect citizens from the coronavirus. He also admitted that the country is suffering from a “big crisis”. In his opinion, the officials “neglected to implement important decisions” that were supposed to ensure ” the security of the state and its citizens.”
