See point one. There are a lot of literal children watching this show and have access to Fandom spaces online which leads to the point about toxic fan base. I can guarantee you the problem people in the Fandom are kids who are too immature to know how to interact in socially appropriate ways.
The problem here is that a lot of people think "otome game" means any and every game focused on romance when it actually means games with female protagonists romancing men, so they don't know the right terminology for what they want, which is why we get the requests for otome games with male protagonists or female LIs. And because this is the internet and everyone has to be right all the time and take all disagreements personally, the people who try to explain what otome game actually mean get accused of being homophobic and not wanting LGBTQ+ representation and the people who don't know the right terminology and mistake otome games for romance games in general get accused of sexism and wanting to take women's spaces away from them
You have examples of "poison butterfly" and "charade maniacs" which have a female LI and an "never confirm gender identity LI which could have gone either way", these are still otome games. On the indie side you have backstage pass, which also has 1 female LI.
I mean, 😂 that entire game... isn't much better... and the final route... Is the female LI one really that bad? When you look at all the other options?
I’m just irritated because people only ever get up in arms about Alastor’s canon sexuality. He shouldn’t need to be completely explicit. Vaggie doesn’t say “I’m exclusively attracted to women,” but people understand that she’s a lesbian when it never outright says she isn’t heteroflexible or bisexual. And putting her in straight pairings bothers the fandom a lot, with people saying it’s gross to erase her identity. But then when a character who’s implied to be aroace enters the scene, the fandom can’t handle it. Suddenly they’re finding every excuse to ship and arguing tooth and nail to insist that it’s not the same. I don’t mind if people ship him with other characters, but there’s no need to erase what little representation arospec and acespec people have in fiction to do it. You can just say “I like the dynamic even though it’d never happen.” And the thing that makes it important is because he’s the only one getting so much attention in that regard. He’s being singled out and treated differently in fandom discussion despite the creator being fine with any pairings. There shouldn’t need to be a reason to justify any of them, so only being upset when other characters are shipped in ways that contradict an implicit identity is really annoying to watch.
I would say don't speak for the fandom. I am a lesbian and vaggie being shipped in straight pairings doesn't bother me at all. I believe people can ship whoever they want.
I had the same reaction!!! Was so excited to play his route and then all those elements were sooo ugh. I love the character, but surprisingly it felt just as disappointed and koryuki from nightshade
To be fully honest I thought they were financed specifically through the merch (most of it) and YouTube? It can't be a bad deal if amazon wanted Hazbin pie slice... Tho it doesn't seem like Amazon went on the same route when looking at the lack of official hazbin merch when compared to helluva...
Hey, i am not gonna comment much on nightshade (as I think others did it better already) but if you want a calm cleaning palade with a bit supernatural and an historical flare, i would recommend winter wish.
I get the feeling that many "expats" call themselves that, to distinguish themselves from other immigrants, even when they don't live here temporarily anymore (let's say 10+ years). Quite entitled and arrogant in that case.
Me and my ex had mismatched libido, which was very complicated, as they would often cry if i said no and they wanted 3x a week sex (they were studying while I had an heavy job... So the energy was also complicated there). I would get them off often, but specially when they would only want at eleven-midnight when I had to wake up the next day at 6... It was rough.
