I like to think an older Rog (now a skilled mechanic) and Mia (now a decorated police officer) appear in the game along with new supporting characters and villain
I think it shouldn't feature anyone from the original game, maybe have references to them like how The 3D universe is referenced in the HD universe but it's only a few statements and the like

I don’t know why but driving manual in need for speed games always felt faster. I didn’t like how in games like Hot Pursuit 2 and Most Wanted 05, the auto transmissions were trash. Depending on the car, upshifts felt like they were too early, downshifts (and decisions of when to down shift) were too slow. After playing those games for so long, you get a sense of where your power band is and you should definitely exploit it by driving manual (if the game allows it of course).
Haven't heard of Pogo yet, but I remembered listening to No Data by Digitalism once back then during the pandemic. Just realized now that Digitalism has a song in Pro Street
They also have songs in Fifa. Pogo was in 08 and 23, Circles was in 11 and Shangri-La was in 17 or 18. But I'm surprised you've never heard of Pogo when it's their most popular song.

That's because Manual was faster in those games, Automatic shifted up a gear too early. That and Manual gives you a higher top speed for some reason
