  1. I used to work in FM and IM until I told management I needed a change. Almost 200 pts in one day. All ages. Sometimes more than that. Blood work on babies, adults, and children all day. It became repetitive and boring. I learned a lot though. So they moved me to the specialty floor. I work mainly doing minor procedures with a GYN. When my GYN isn't there, I do Endo, nephro, pulm, and uro. LOVE GYN.

  2. Practice and always go in confidently. I trained a few medical assistants. Learned a lot of tips from RNs. Patients know when you're nervous. Start a conversation, even. That helps a lot.

  3. I mean, it was their job. I talk about work when I get home. It's part of my life. Same as it is theirs.

  4. Maybe financial aid will help you with school? Especially if you go to a community college. It's cheaper. I work 40+ a week as an MA and have kids at home. Schools are more flexible ever since the pandemic. You'd have to do clinicals in person, of course. I felt discouraged but I challenged myself even more and am starting back in school in March. Financial aid is helping and my community college has a nursing program..which is difficult to get into only if your grades are below B. Luckily, I still have my credits and I always maintained a B average. Also, my job will pay for everything once I finish school. Push yourself! Don't feel discouraged! I had an RN pushing me for a year to go back and here I am.

  5. If you work in uro or peds, you'll def be picking up poop and cleaning urine.

  6. Let's focus on the fact that the whole point is that it's supposed to take place in present time. Everyone seems to have to announce their preferences. Coming from someone who is LGBTQ+ community. Although, I don't announce, I grew up in the late 80s. We have to remember how things have changed.

  7. I feel as though the RNs absolutely appreciate us where I work. It's more so management. Management is the problem.

  8. Try NYU. They like fresh out of school. Just need to apply to multiple locations. Someone is bound to pick you up. Coming from personal experience.

  9. Yea! I noticed that NYU is always posting MA jobs so I've been applying to them too

  10. Just be really prepared for your interview. Know your stuff. Their benefits are amazing and they pay the most. Management isn't exactly the best buuuut... Having NYU on your resume is great.

  11. Was literally watching this episode last night! I'm doing a rewatch.

  12. You could call the doctor's office you're needing records from and ask. You could also enlist the patient to ask the office as well if they're giving you a hard time.

  13. This. I know my office is backed up on faxes because we're super busy on the floor and management's main concern is inbaskets. Phone calls are better.

  14. This show came out before this forced inclusion BS, so characters don't come out and tell you their sexuality right away. We don't know who's gay or who's bisexual.

  15. Love this. Your sexuality isn't significant. Coming from someone from LGBTQ+ community. I literally don't care.

  16. Honestly, you won't make good money unless you work for a big hospital.

  17. I had to do 2 background checks and watch a bunch of videos and do EMR training. They had to set up my own personal email. A few other things I can't think of at the moment. I didn't have to do a drug test. I think it took me about 2 weeks to get a start date.

  18. She couldn't say prescription drug addiction because TLC didn't want to anger their sponsor.

  19. She did mention she paid for her pain medication. But that's about it.

  20. I work in family medicine and most of the time when I ask parents what their child likes to watch, they say cocomelon. I play shows to distract kids during vaccines and venipunctures. Cocomelon is absolutely terrible.

  21. Wish it was that way. I had surgery recently and I had to pay half of my deductible on day of the surgery. Mind you, I work in healthcare.

  22. Married with children in this day and age? There’s no way it’s going to fly in the original fashion. Changed to accommodate todays cancel culture though would make it completely unrecognizable.

  23. Hopefully that's not the case. It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia has jokes similar to Married with Children and it has been on air for years.

  24. I admit I’ve not watch IASIP, hopefully you’re right.

  25. Watch season 1 and on. I'm telling you. You won't be disappointed. It gets worse as you go further. Lol.

  26. I've noticed since I've started working as an MA, there's always gossip going around. People are always just cruel and talk about each other. You can't really trust anyone and no one is your friend at the end of the day. I went through a situation at work recently and I had to come to terms that these people are not your friends..they are your coworkers. You have to keep the mindset that you're doing this job because this is what you love and it's about learning and the patients.
