I take it you haven't lived here long. For years, Barnett has been presented as an authority on Seattle politics on local radio (KUOW has her as a "guest" on a near weekly basis); her "scoops" (i.e., information she's been fed by people who know she'll frame things just the way they want) are cited in the Seattle Times and other media sources (though, she whines, not often enough); she's used as a moderator for political debates by left-leaning political clubs...just a few examples.
Who would have thought that an initiative proposed by a small group of fresh-out-of-college-no-relevant-work-experience activists would fail at launch?
" “We are seeking a leader who can create clarity from ambiguity, who can make hard and focused decisions necessary to keep us on track, who has deep experience managing multibillion-dollar infrastructure projects, and Terri clearly brings all of this to the table,” said board Chair Dow Constantine, the King County executive."
I thought this gif was hyperbolic, but I actually started reading the article... And several paragraphs in I realized it wasn't making any coherent points.
Typical David Gutman context-less "reporting," where inconvenient facts are conveniently omitted. Not even a passing mention of the significant increase in tax receipts resulting from skyrocketing property values. Opponents of the state measure are dismissed as "anti-tax" (but none are interviewed) in the same article describing the out-of-control budget overruns on the Harborview expansion. Real balanced "reporting."
Hamas propaganda presented as a human interest story. Not a single critical examination of any claim made by these oh-so-concerned "protesters" (who couldn't find Syria, Sudan or Yemen on a map). This article is a travesty of "journalism."
Outside of almost the entire board having no experience developing and managing housing my favorite part is having "restorative justice conflict resolution" in place of evictions.
Its amazing to me that both the stranger AND publicola were able to, and consistently deep dive on the fact the landlord owns other properties a LLC and their values, but somehow missed the fact that Kim is a professional grifter who has been defrauding people for at least several years.
Why do you ppl give her so much attention?
Like it or not, she's what passes for a "thought leader" among Seattle progressives. This is as much a reflection on them as it is on her.
Is she? The screen shots both show under 20 likes per post.

Let’s add a $1trillion transportation levy to fund bike lanes on all freeways, that’ll fix everything /s
Don't forget--reduce the freeways to single lanes in both directions and lower the speed limit to 20 MPH.

It's The Stranger. If it didn't publish nonsense, it would publish nothing at all.
Barnett, who absolutely loved, loved, loved Marc Dones, should always be deferred to in these matters.
Given a choice between functional as-is and bright-shiny-new-thing road design, the city can't help itself.
Ryan Packer must be pleased.
Somebody's desperate to be relevant.
What it means is that he'd like you to forget all those ACAB tweets he made four years ago.

Aidan is white. And likely on the spectrum.
Very definitely on the spectrum.
Miss Tammy is as simple-minded as she is self-conscious. Which means--very.
But Pooja had such grand ambitions!

Edit:
The Cabrini Green New Deal.
Has Katie Wilson (of "Transit Riders Union" infamy) ever worked a day in her life? Or is she a full-time professional agitator and useful idiot?
Oh, she washed boats for a summer or something like that. But she's been grifting ever since.

Erica Barnett operates on the principle that inconvenient facts are conveniently ignored.
Good, fucked around and found out.
And, sure enough, one commenter cited Erica Barnett as an authority.
