Contract wise Beniers or Wright are your best options. Matty is in his 2nd full season (3/3 on his ELC) already and will be receiving an extension in the offseason (hopefully sooner…),players that are drafted come with 8 years of RFA eligibility before becoming UFA’s and being able to go wherever they want. Beniers is an extremely safe and popular choice and personally I would go with his jersey but I simply don’t like how 10 looks in our font
The team signed him to a 2 year extension in the off season so I’d say he’s here to stay this year and next year. And there is still a question of if the teams problems are due to coaching or players not performing + Injuries (the team hasn’t been fully healthy since opening night) this is obviously a frustrating and disappointing season, but firing Hakstol is likely not the solution that will come (this year)
We have enough good prospects. Jagger Firkus leads the entire CHL in goals and Carson Rehkopf is leading the OHL. David Goyette just broke his teams record for points, goals, and assists by a defenseman. Wright and Evans are developing in Coachella and Kartye has been a hell of a surprise.
