Sometimes you end up using the same sounds or samples across multiple songs. Especially if you’re going to release them on the same EP or album. Creating sounds from scratch for every new song is great, but it’s not very efficient if you’ve got to meet some sort of creative deadline.
Vinnie was an amazing drummer. I would wager he was probably one of the best and still one of the best. His footwork was so unique. His attention to groove, those Latin style time signatures, and his ability to have fun with everything…the man was a legend. And this is just his drumming technique. The man was also a very talented producer and mix down engineer.
Listening to Psalms and then to Pain Remains is like listening to two different bands and I’m not mad at all.
