A friend of mine just had his forgiven as well. Med school in the Caribbean, came out to roughly $450k. Paid minimum on it for 10 years while working at a non-profit hospital (all while making upwards of $150k/year, 4 kids, $675k home, $1500+ car payments, etc). Close to $265k taken care.
With a family size of 6 and an income of 150k (assuming his spouse doesn't have a job) his payments were required to be roughly $1200 a month for those ten years. You have to pay minimum with this program because if you try to pay more it'll kick you into paid-headed status and then you don't have a bill due and then you don't get credit for a month of employment/payment. Just giving you more information because it seems like you're making some generalizations.
She also has a job as she has her MBA in special education. I am fully aware of the entire program, my sister in law is a dentist and could have qualified for the same program after 10 years, but she decided to pay her loans off 2 years after graduating to get them out of the way, but during that time we discussed it on multiple occasions. He has expressed exactly how much he paid and it it isn't hard to calculate it based upon that. I say it as a generalization about him as he had this planned years in advance knowing he would, so they stretched themselves further than what most people would based upon the fact that he would not have to make payments after X date. There is a whole slew of other things to take into account, such as signing bonuses for renewing his contract, moonlighting, teaching/mentoring new residents, etc that have added to his overall net worth.
And data about my eating habits, work schedule, bills from my mail if they're out and about, how many pets I have, on and on.
I would highly suggest against purchasing a iRobot with a camera on the front of it. It is used to navigate and recognize obstacles, but since Amazon owns it now, every single inch of your home will be mapped and sent to them so you can get "even better" ads.
