Michigan is nice. Good long drives. Quaint little towns. Friendly people. And a lot of open spaces. Go in the summer and drive from Toledo to Sault St. Marie, and then to Deluth, MN.
okay, so seriously, start with the Hydrasynth and a set of headphones. Ignore the rest at first. If you don't know synths you can learn synthesis on that.
While you are technically correct, there are typical uses of Fairlight in 1982, and even as wide as those uses are, none of those sound like the Who song asked about. The sounds do, however, sound like tools that The Who typically use in the studio that _aren't_ the Fairlight.
I'm rehearsing with friends for a cover set and a gig of my own, so 'the box' is my most used at the moment, Arturia Keylab 61mk2 and Keylab essential 88 mk2. Arturia, Korg, Roland and Ableton Synths.
I'm a bit confused to whether I'd use them that much. Maybe my own sound will differ from Jarre's.. and right now everyone is doing JMJ stuff at home.. plus the Solina is a bit 1-trick-pony.. the Pro-800 sounds massive..
I have an x32 - I have a couple snakes that are 1/4" to XLR
I worked a festival in which the power for the PA came from 4 tractors running generators that were meant for milking machines.

It's got USB....hook it up to a computer, get a free DAW or Reaper (technically not free) and use some plugins with it!
I use Logic so I’ll definitely try it out in there!
Check out plugins4free.com. I've been using synths from there for over a decade

I still wonder why they didn't have Psychedelic Furs support them on the MM tour.

I think it was all done on a Fairlight.
None of that sounds like a Fairlight.
A Fairlight can sound like anything, though, ...

Then go with Model D and Pro 800. I also have a Mooer PE100 model guitar fx unit on my Pro 800...really brings it up a notch for only $60.

I'd say xm and Hydra. XM for all the bread and butter, Hydra for the sound sculpting stuff.
My computer
...no I take that back. All I need is an acoustic guitar. And possibly a melodica
Momma had a chicken, Momma had a cow, Texas person has bird flu
Mine isn't like that....seems like a fault in the individual button. Maybe you can get it replaced?
Used Hydrasynth Explorer. Just do it. Ignore all others
