  1. Tiny correction: Impetum reformare would be more “to reform the/an attack” or something else when used with a more complex sentence structure. But yeah that seems accurate. (Source: current Latin student)

  2. People are coping with extreme rises in antisemitism globally. For many, it's the first time they've experienced something like this. For many, it's coming from people they've otherwise identified with politically/ socially. We can all have dank Purim memes (and Pesach too btw) and also rant about stupid evil people we're disappointment in. The latter is even a well established Jewish tradition.

  3. אז מאבדים את אילת? לאן נלך בקיץ?

  4. זה בסדר סיפחנו במקום חלק מעבר הירדן המזרחי

  5. Gimli agrees, then watches in horror as seconds later orcs silently descend from the sky behind their ranks

  6. Because the best defense is a good offence. It's much easier and cheaper to build rockets than interceptors, so any army basing its strategy on intercepting missiles out of the air is going to lose the arms race. Israel only needs to intercept the first few salvos, and use that time to crush the remaining launch sites.

  7. Ras al Hanout, classic “Arabic” spice blend. Meaning “top of the shop,” like ראש החנות. A mixture of popular spices. There are many recipes you can find online, or else buy it in a middle eastern grocery store.

  8. Wow, TIL. I just thought hanut was a type of plant and you take a head of hanut same as a head of garlic. Not my brightest moment

  9. Don't forget the fire arrows! Bitches love fire arrows

  10. Huh? Weren't flaming arrows often used against structures, siege weapons and ships? Or is this just video game knowledge?

  12. You mean the one where the genocided people increase in population over the years? Or the one where murderers from the genocided people are treated in the same hospitals as the people they attacked? Or maybe the one where the genocided people received free water, power and healthcare for decades, and have one of the highest obesity rates on the planet?

  13. Dawncaster RPG is the only thing that has surpassed Slay the Spire for me honestly. Only downside is it's a mobile game, BUT! It's not F2P, it's a one time purchase and you get the whole game, there are DLCs that add different options and zones to explore but you gain access to all new cards added to the game. It's an actual video game and not some cash grab soulless card collector. It's truly an awesome game.

  14. I loved Dawncaster for a while but honestly I think it's too easy to "break the game". You can get an unstoppable combo as early as chapter 3 and then you just ride along till the end (which is very long). In StS it's possible to luck out and get a crazy good combo early, but on higher ascensions it won't be enough to carry you to the end.

  15. Remember, being accused of Antisemitism on twitter is a fate worse than death. That's why Israel always deflects criticism by claiming it's antisemitic, it allows them to get away with literally anything. Unless the criticism starts with "I'm going to be accused of antisemitism but...", and worryingly more and more people are discovering this loophole.

  16. People say the exact same thing about Pro-Palestians using Islamophobia as a shield. There is a line that crosses, for both forms of discrimination.

  17. You accused someone of lying about being Israeli, were called out, and subsequently had your post reported and deleted. That is very uncivilized

  18. They couldn't even spell "Israeli" correctly, and were lying about pretty much everything else. Sure, whatever. That was my bad

  19. The guy was a non-native english speaker and you basically harped at him for not knowing to end the word with an I instead of a Y, that's incredibly petty and completely unproductive for the conversation. In trying to defend Israel, you've ironically only succeeded in insulting a random Israeli for not speaking english well enough. I hope that irony is apparent to you lmao

  20. Dude, most Israelis are non-native English speakers, they still know how to spell the name of their own people correctly. And I'm okay with calling out people if they go around telling blatant lies like "Israel doesn't allow foreign media to report on Gaza", or "Palestinian officials accurately report casualties while Israeli officials constantly lie".

  21. Maybe a stupid question, but like, how do we measure a star we see in a telescope? What frame of reference can we use

  22. It's not a stupid question at all. We have two main methods to measure distances, parallax and spectral shift. Parallax: Due to the motion of Earth around the Sun, some of the closer stars appear to move realtive to the farther, static ones, like how trees move when you drive by them but the mountains in the background don't. The more a star moves throughout the year, the closer it is. Spectral shift: If you break starlight into its component colors with a prism, you'll notice some thin strips where the light is less intense. This is because stars have clouds of hydrogen and helium around them that absorb these colors specifically. So the dips should be the same no matter which star you look at, and they pretty much are, except - that for some stars these lines are shifted towards the red color. We figured out that due to the expansion of the universe (it's complicated), the farther away a star is, the more "redshift" these "spectral lines" have. That in a nutshell is how we measure distances to really far away stars, and we can use that to infer their size.

  23. I wrote porn scripts promoting peace in the middle east. Wanna read?

  24. Just fake a Russian accent, no one will blink when you forget to use it or use it incorrectly.

  25. Counterpoint: The Romans also have machine guns from time traveling redditors.

  26. Yeah there was a health fad of drinking a spoonful of olive oil daily to "cleanse the system".

  27. Okay with that left out part I have some issues. Mostly the notion that israel being worse than Iran is somehow ridiculous. Israel was founded on settler colonialism, with practices it continues to this day. It's policies are quite simular to apartheid south Africa. Is Hamas bad in many ways including antisemitism? Yes. Do I blame anyone who had their house stolen, to which many still own their keys and who may have had family and friends murdered for supporting Hamas? No, absolutely not. I should add that the population of Israel is largely complicit with the action of their government. There were big constutional protests earlier this year, yet there are seemingly next to none against their ongoing genocide. Of course protesting wouldn't be easy since waving the Palestinian flag in public can get you arrested, but I'm sure they could have found a way to do it without the flag. Is Iran absolutely terrible? Yes, but it's not at all weird to suggest that Israel with one ninth of their population is worse, in the very least proportional. Is antisemitism a real problem that should be fought actively? Yes but not in ways that in any way shape or form reduce the impact of Israels atrocities! I could go on like pointing out that both Hamas and Hezbollah are a direct consequence of Israels atrocities and using Irans support for them to argue that Iran is worse than Isreal is at least odd. There is a lot more to say on the topic but I think I made my point.

  28. Hi, Israeli here. Your are basing your views on reductive and false assumptions.

  29. Amazing! I'd buy a full sized print in a hearbeat
