  1. Call United. They can confirm if you’re on the list and if a mistake happened on their end they can rectify it.

  2. Last year I was texted to upgrade to PP seated in economy plus, and a couple minutes later another text up to Polaris.

  3. First of all, both are on the Uptown side of Lafitte and Whole Foods is on N. Broad. Saying Whole Foods is in Treme is like saying that We Dat’s or that the Saenger Theatre is in the Treme 🫣🥺😂😂😂

  4. w.t.f. are you talking about? I literally shop there weekly. What type of East coast, urban planning shenanigans are you on? My job literally involves talking to residents of that area. I live on Bienville on the riverside of Broad. NO ONE calls that area the Treme.

  5. As a former gate agent all I can say is that you stumbled onto a powerful secret weapon in dealing with airline employees - the truth. How do you think that would have gone if you'd shown up angry and blaming them for your mistake? Weirdly, that's the route way too many people choose and get even more upset when it goes badly for them.

  6. Totally. Being cordial, decent, flexible and respectful is the key to remedying most problems.

  7. IAD is an absolute breeze for immigration. You’ll be fine. Please make sure to use the bathroom before landing. Depending on the time of day you’ll be fine.

  8. Shit like this is why I am so fucking angry they were dropping children off school busses in waist-high water to wade home.

  9. Just wanna say this is due to the charter system and lack of central coordination on these issues.

  10. Yes!!!! It’s pretty wild. I could conceivably think about swimming further up towards Harrison Avenue (though, I’ve seen more than a few gators by the shore).

  11. Thanks! What are the odds of 3 opening up together?

  12. Big time edit (lol 🫠🫣): from what I’ve learned, pretty high if there’s PN9, but there might be others above you. Depending on how far the trip is out, you can call United and they’ll give you an update on where you’re at on the waiting list.

  13. If the trip is AFTER you get status with United, then yes, the PQP and PQF will apply. Before that, no.

  14. To clarify more: if you qualify for Premier Status BEFORE July 1st, you’ll have it until January 2025. If you finish on or after July 1st, you’ll have it until January 2026.

  15. You’ll be fine. Most people traveling from major Canadian cities clear U.S. customs in Canada and fly into the U.S.A. as domestic travelers (fun fact: the same is true for travelers flying from Dublin and Shannon).

  16. Not SA, but when I was Skyteam Elite Plus last year, I got thanked on Korean Air both times by the purser. Haven’t experienced this on SA with SA Gold, but I fly AC later this year.

  17. Haha same. Last year I was Delta Gold and both of my trips on Korean Air were amazing.

  18. I sadly had to abandon Delta as well. The prices, massive raising of standards for medallion status, etc. made me bounce over to United. United’s domestic service leaves a lot to desire, but its international product is fantastic for a U.S. carrier (business, premium economy and economy).

  19. I’d argue this is more Parisian than French. The French down south (where my wife is from) and wonderful and helpful.

  20. Same, the western, southern and eastern parts are France are wonderful. Parisians have been known for their attitudes for hundreds of years.

  21. Algorithms guessing that you’ll have anxiety and decide to upgrade on the more expensive upgrade route.

  22. I’m a broke non-profit worker who’s always traveling on a budget and only has airline status due to many, many work trips. Here are my recs: Start off in Turkey, then Bulgaria, Greece, Bosnia, Hungary, Poland, Czech and fly back. If you use Couchsurfing.Org, you could easily live off 2K for 7 weeks minus flights.

  23. Other tips: use Hostelworld to reserve now and pay later. Meanwhile, you can use Couchsurfing.Org to arrange some couchsurfs and if you don’t find a couchsurf then you have the hostel as a backup.

  24. Update: I’m tentatively good. Thank you everyone.

  25. Several hundred GS pp expiring 2025 (not 2024) -- open to waitlisting if you have substantive reddit history and the flight is soon, else will only transact if PN/PZ is open to avoid a bad transaction. Happy to check for you, or refer to ThePointsGuy's United Expert Mode article, which is great reference for how to look yourself!

  26. Ah, so he didn't. Was he even in favor of this method or was there a recorded meeting in weeks leading up about how this was unacceptable and even implementing procedures and audits to prevent this from happening.

  27. How do you know he was trying to “retrain the incompetent staff?” Based upon your posts, I’m guessing you’re Zack Smith.

  28. Yo peace. I'm a big Dr. John fan. Do you know where I can find the ones that he had ?

  29. ??? Not sure what you mean. There were no specialty Dr. John throws on that float.

  30. This was me Atlanta to Dusseldorf. An essentially manual seat, a headphone jack that had to be handled (and propped) just so. My slippers tore when I put them on. (I have very slender feet.) Totally not worth Delta One prices. I'm going to be much more discerning going forward. If it's a shitty old retrofit plane and I can't find another route I'll just do premium economy.

  31. Polaris is amazing! I don’t like United domestic as much, but transoceanic, Polaris is far superior than Delta One (and cheaper depending on your upgrade route with their Saver Fares).

  32. Update: I got it fixed by calling them and getting them to review the conversation. They realized the mistake they made and fixed it.
