I'd like to say that colonisation on the topic of space is different from that of colonism of the past on earth. Space is vast and unhinhabited as far as we know. I don't think that space colonisation should be seen as a bad thing or uncool due to the past. Human colonies to the moon I hope will be a major step forward for humanity and science and is objectively cool in my opinion.
I'm not aware of the book so I'm not sure the issues with a new frontier without having to genocide the people who are already there. However, it's clear the billionaire fascists are so excited about colonizing space because they think they can finally be clear of that pesky "democracy", "human rights", and "governments they don't 100% control". Their plans amount to basically "the British East India Company in space, but we can cut off the workers air if they get uppity". Half of the reason Musk is so excited about colonizing Mars is he thinks he can set up the neo-feudalism he jerks off to every night there.
There was a nationwide police tantrum after BLM and defund. Response time and arrests all suffered because the country dared to demand public servants get away with murder less. Because most Portland cops don't actually live here, considered measure 80 failing as in their best interest, and protests were not entirely docile the problem has been especially acute.
It's cops organizing to deliberately undermine public safety and public policy in order to further their far right (and often outright fascist) political agenda. Whether that means they're good or bad at their job depends on what you think the job actually is.
Have a look at the countries in the region. Afghanistan, iran, Yemen and some assholes in Lebanon are supporting hamas... when they aren't stoning to death their women ....
The GOP has shown again it does not care about the lower class. And ironically, 66 of the poorest 100 counties in the USA voted Republican in the last presidential election. What will it take for these people to wake up and see reality?

This post currently has over 1000 comments. There are close to 1,000,000 posts on Reddit every day, or in the high hundreds of thousands. That makes for an ungodly amount of posts every year. If this post is a single grain of sand then my comment is an atom on that grain of sand.

If I had to take a guess, they probably factor government fines into their annual budgets every year. For large corporations like JP Morgan, government imposed fines aren’t some sort of punishment or major loss on their end. Fines are so small and non-important that they probably just consider them a “minor business expense”. They probably spend more money per year on office supplies than what they have to pay in fines every year.
