  1. I rather appreciate that Lego opts _not_ to use an _asylum_ as a toy (re: Arkham).

  2. But there literally have been multiple lego asylums as toys before, so this point is invalid. I also didn't mention arkham?

  3. Oh well, I was wrong (tells you how much I follow _any_ Batman sets or 'hero' sets :D ). Guess I'll just reside content in that I don't agree with or support making mental health institutions into toys.

  4. I appreciate what you're trying to do, but given the nature of international investment, this will always be a problem.

  5. I can't help but see your advocating for 'it's pointless, so do nothing'.

  6. For an 8 studs-wide filler build, imho a simple alleyway to access thr back of buildings works well. Plus, the separation between two large buildings can be a good contrast for the general street landscape. Especially for builds with side balconies like the Parisian Restaurant or the Boutique Hotel.

  7. Pauolo got there before I could. Exactly that.

  8. House Atreides, forever preserved in transparent cheddar cheese.

  9. Upvoting this for the simple cleverness of repurposing lavender carrots as eggplants. I might use that in my farmer's market MOC. :)

  10. Ghostbusters: unique foundation shape compared to the other moduler sets. Also if you're a fan of the older movies it's packed to the gills with easter eggs.

  11. Yes indeed to subtle. Current condominium building in-process increased the two separate roof sections by one brick height to permit one of those roof sections to become the hallway/gallery for a condo, and the second roof section becomes a full bedroom for that same condo. Also expanded the left side of the building to include an internal stairway while also increasing the first floor condo by 30%.

  12. I think it's missing a lot without the vendors along the interior. That's really what makes the Rialto bridge such a unique experience.

  13. I don't have anything to add but I wanted to say, welcome to the club! I'm a 47 year old woman and I didn't get into Lego until my 40s. I'm like you. I enjoy creating but doing something myself from my own imagination feels daunting.

  14. ^^same as Frog' (albeit, mid-40s male). . .had minimal interest in lego since the mid-1990s. . .then discovered modular buildings a little over a year ago. . .bought and built several. . and just built my first two MOC modular buildings (well, they're in-process: one is just waiting for me to install a set of bunk beds, the other is waiting for me to gather the few remaining parts in a couple of weeks when I have time available again).

  15. oh sorry, I meant if they are available as shiny

  16. Yes: once 'released' as shiny, the wilds are then available as shiny. Ergo, unless Niantic 'didn't switch the shiny availability on', Carnivine, Pachirisu, and Chatot would be _possible_ to find shiny variants of in the wild.

  17. As many of these 'judge me!' posts that come up, I forbear commenting.

  18. Arduino kits are the way to go. While the teen may want to hang on to Lego specific to robotics, that's actually holding them back. Dig into Arduino and _then_ look for ways to incorporate the lego into the design of structure, functionality, etc. that Arduino presents.

  19. Going through Bricklink, curious what the rough total cost for parts was?

  20. Inset the windows, and frame them up. I think as much as one might want to present the windows as 'floor to ceiling' style, insetting _and_ framing the windows would actually create the facade texture that these buildings are known for.

  21. Still not liking the power up only researches.

  22. Agreed. The forcing of users/players/trainers to use up stardust is very off-putting.

  23. You don't need to consolidate your gift cards into one: whether online or in-person, you can apply each of those gift cards as needed on whatever your future purchase is.

  24. It's going to be a really challenging build, no matter what, because you're working with a truly organic structure that--unto itself--isn't all that stable (much less durably connected) in the first place.

  25. Just Google 'lego 2 x 2 wedge plate'. Easy peasy.

  26. This question comes up somewhat regularly and the responses seem to be that if you’re the type that generally likes expansions, buy the Everdell expansions. If you’re not that type then don’t.

  27. While I would welcome them from Lego, I don't _expect_ them from Lego. As someone already referenced: dispersing smaller modular sets, on the design-level of the larger sets, would quite likely dilute/reduce sales and interest in the larger sets. . .which, given that those are seen as premium by many adult lego-enthusiasts, would be counterproductive.

  28. I find the negative responses unhelpful. Some very 'worst case scenario' responses from others.
