  1. GPA is the most important probably followed closely by PCE. GRE is likely one of the lowest. PA school is tough academically, and showijg your effort in undergrad through keeping your GPA will show them you will pass classes and the PANCE. Remember that programs want to keep their stats high for pass rates, so iits important to have a good gpa. At the very least if its average or below average, have above average PCE to make up for it and show an upward trend or higher grades in your science classes.

  2. what about a stats dual credit class that I took in high school through a community college?

  3. Your GPAs aren't terrible; they meet the minimums for many programs. I will say that respiratory school isn't exactly easy and it's pretty much all science classes, which means you have to get AT LEAST a B+ to raise your GPA. Also keep in mind that clinicals don't count as PCE so you won't accumulate PCE as an RT until you graduate.

  4. Are you sure clinicals do not count as PCE? That was the biggest selling point that my RT advisors were giving me.... the idea that we would have accumulated over 1,000 clinical hours through the RT program for pa school :0

  5. I’m living for how fake this story is

  6. I’m sorry, I know it sounds absurd but it is not a fake story. I also know the trend of fake stories on reddit but this is not one of them. I genuinely just want advice on how to navigate this situation.

  7. Also, about the suicidal thoughts, PLEASE talk to a medical professional or even some close friends about this. If it is taking this much of a toll on your life you need to talk to someone about it.

  8. Ok then I’m REALLY sorry if this is real, But assuming it is

  9. Like almost memoir type of book? He was reading one about isias afwerki recently

  10. Basically you just lose sleep, are constantly sleep deprived, and try to make it work. I can’t even afford to go to day shift. I likely won’t stay in this field because I’ve been doing this for 3 years, on nights, and my family has really suffered.

  11. What do u mean by u can’t afford day shift

  12. I LOVEEEEE my HP pavillion 360 (I hope I spelled that right lol). It’s a two in one laptop and tablet that doesn’t detach, it just flips into a tablet. The screen is huge and you only have to worry about keeping one device on hand and charged.

  13. I'm currently taking it right now with Janice Aski. Class is interesting and I genuinely think it'll be helpful in life, but it's alot of work for a GE. Attendance is absolutely mandatory. You get 2 unexcused absences. After that, for each absence you have, your grade drops by a whole letter. So it's not a class to take if you plan on skipping. Each class involves group discussion, there are 2 major projects, one of them being a group project that involves an interview, and a midterm and final. Idk, it's one of those classes where you hate it and like it at the same time. If none what I just mentioned scares you, then take it. Otherwise I might look for something else.

  14. Are the project super hard? And what type of interview was it

  15. Is the midterm/final hard? What is the format? Is it essay or like multiple choice questions?

  16. PA has always been my end-game but I've honestly lost interest. I work as an RT at my hospital, and love the couple of PAs I work with and we chat and I pick their brains but damn, it seems like it's just become so competitive and such a (expensive) pain to get the process started that other alternatives begin to seem more enticing. Major props to all of you that keep on keeping on with it, I'm sure it will be worth it!

  17. Since ur an RT won’t u have a pretty guaranteed acceptance if u applied tho? I mean u would be up against a bunch of 23 year olds who have only mostly worked as medical scribes or nursing assistants while you have VERY solid PCE hours as a RT?

  18. Can I pm you about the transition between RT to PA?

  19. Hey ! Im actually in that sorority so you can message me if you want ! But we aren’t choosy based on connections or gpa at all, when I joined I literally knew no one in the sorority at all. And as for GPA there is a minimum since we are an academic sorority but we are also willing to work with people and help them get theirs up if need be. I’m also a first generation immigrant and I’m so so glad that I joined it and I hope you decide to give us a chance

  20. What are the choosing from then? Personality? Looks?

  21. I would definitely try to shorten your response. However, I have been to three interviews and not a single one asked me the question “why PA?” so I wouldn’t stress out about it too much

  22. Oh wow I thought that was one of the make or break questions….

  23. the PCA positions all list that their "scheduled hours" is 40 hours.. does that mean that I would have to work 40 hours a week if I get the position? or is that the max amount of hours..?

  24. I wish I double majored in Spanish! Or that I was just bilingual.

  25. I double majored and lived abroad. I also worked as an interpreter in the hospital. This was an important part of my application, and invaluable to my patients. I'm bilingual. It's not the degree, but the language skills and the life experience.

  26. Is getting a degree in the language enough to be validated or do I need to do other steps?

  27. My second degree was French. I am fluent in French. I’ve not only studied abroad but worked, lived and dated over there.

  28. Hey, could do u mind messaging me about what type of opportunities u were able to have as a PA with a language major? I’m considering double majoring in a language but wasn’t sure what the benefit of that could be :/. Thanks!

  29. No, Big 10 is reserved only. As a freshman, expect to be seated in the South stands above Block O South pretty far up

  30. So when I show up to the game with big 10 tickets I’m just gonna be told to go to south stands? Are a lot of other freshman going to be there too?

  31. The reserved stands are where most freshmen end up, but it is filled with people of all years.

  32. Okay thank you this was super helpful
