  1. I've used mesh with zip ties in the past. Can you post a photo of the area?

  2. Here it is. Can post a better one when I finish work, possibly with a banana for scale, but it’s an area around 20cm long

  3. Can they get around the side into the overflow? Or via the top? Hard to tell from that pic.

  4. No, no access. Sorry it is a terrible pic! Here’s one from the companies web site that shows it a little better. I’m beginning to think I may need to design something to be 3D printed for it

  5. Very odd looking picture, feel like I'm trying to guess that pokemon. Stomatella snail.

  6. Ha! Yeah apologies for that 😂 many thanks. It’s got an insanely cute face

  7. Normal room lighting is way darker then it looks. Download the App Photon to measure the PAR of your room lights. You will notice that it is basically nothing

  8. Put a stipend in the gutter and a dropper (downpipe) in it to the lower gutter.

  9. Nice! Thanks so much for the reply. Apologies for the ignorance but what did you mean by a stipend?

  10. Sorry, meant stopend. It's an end stop for the gutter. You can get one at Bunnings, rivet it in and silicone seal it, you could get away with just silicone if you don't have the tools.

  11. That’s awesome! Thanks so much for the advice! Also that is a top tier username 😂

  12. If it had cured sure, but I'd be very dubious about adding it to my system uncured

  13. That’s what I’m thinking too. What a bummer! Few hundred worth of rocks 😭

  14. So, in freshwater we do the following. I assume it'd work for seawater, too.

  15. I’ve heard this one a couple of times now, I’d be really keen to hear if it will work in marine!

  16. The thing that worked for me was superglue gel (frag glue) with home-made quick-set (water + baking soda in a spray bottle with a mist setting), working in layers and filling gaps, then throw some marco dust on top before it starts to set in about 30 seconds (still recommend waiting 24 hours for a firm enough set to go in your tank). No epoxy, no drilling, no rods. My snails, hermits, and urchins haven't budged a single rock in almost 2 years. I had to remove some rock a few months ago and needed bone cutters to do it.

  17. Ventilation is not me thing I’m pressed for at home unfortunately

  18. This happened to me recently. Actually it happened over the course of the month without hardly realizing it. When you play everyday you get into a rhythm. And then when you take time off and redirect your dedication, that rhythm stops when you pick the bow up days later it's almost like okay where was I. The rhythm is gone. So I started trying to imitate the rhythm that i had lost mainly through speed of notes. I was in such a aggravated rush. Finally today I realized that I was at square one again. Or so it seemed. I started playing open c to d. Just hit that one note correct. Repeated that for a half hour. Then open c to e. Then open to f. Really slow with the bow. Little notes. half notes. Soft whole notes. My confidence is back now. I had to slow down. What's the point of trying to play 10 notes in a row if you can't play 2 or three notes in a row very well?

  19. You’re not wrong! How long are you practicing for every day as a general rule?

  20. Thanks as always for all of the helpful replies. This is easily my favourite online community

  21. I find any sort of divot in a chair to be hard on the back, even a really shallow divot like this... the flatter the chair the better, in my opinion!

  22. I have a boney ass and I can feel the hardwood already.

  23. Haha! I was thinking with a cushion on top

  24. 7 years adult learner here. Poor contact point either with the bow or the left hand can causes squeaks and bad screechy noises as well as accidentally touching other strings with the bow while another finger is touching the string. In a strange way cello is just like cooking. If the recipe isn’t quite right the results will vary wildly. Too much pressure, too little pressure, a bad angle, a badly placed finger. Try to get the recipe steady and constant. Bow angle, bow contact point, natural arm weight, solid left hand structure and good finger contact. As something that you can never tackle too early in my opinion, where you feel tension, try to relax those muscles. Tension battling is the #1 thing that I feel improved my sound tremendously.

  25. I’ve definitely been finding this, especially the left hand bit! All comes with time and practice I suppose

  26. Unfortunately in the case of adult learners, that is the truth. Time and lots of good solid practicing which is often something we don’t have the ability to afford is the only way forward. The best thing you can do is start to learn how to practice smart and use time in an efficient way so that the traits and skills practicing produces stick well. I always tell people. Just keep working and it will come to you.

  27. Thankfully I really enjoy the practice and have basically no social life 😂

  28. Yeah I’m thinking it’s definitely the way to go. A somewhat secure industry that I’m actually interested in seems a bit of a no brainier, wish I’d come to that realisation 20 years ago 😂 no I’ve just got to find a way to make enough money to keep my head above water while I do it!

  29. I thought there was going to be doom and gloom when covid came along, truth is I've never had access to this much overtime my entire trade career. Things are peachy my dude. Also do the trade, I started at 28.

  30. I've switched careers at close to 20, close to 30, close to 40, and close to 50.

  31. How did you go about it each time? If you don’t mind me asking, how did you cope with the inevitable wage cut?

  32. That’s bloody impressive, nice one! How did you find surviving on the apprentice wage if you don’t mind my asking?

  33. Really tall player here, so position has always been something I've struggled with, but I'll share some of the things that have stuck with me and helped from various teachers over the years.

  34. amit peled is really good, lots of great videos to check out on youtube.

  35. I’ll check them out, thanks so much!

  36. I don’t think they’re talking about learning actual playing techniques beforehand - what they wrote shows they actually have some good ideas about things to study up on while waiting for a teacher.

  37. Thanks, I’ll check them out! No, not looking to learn any playing techniques or anything, more just terminology and things of that nature 😊

  38. Learn basics of music theory and learn clefs, maybe some keys as well. I assume you will get a teacher, who can also advise about these kinds of things.

  39. Definitely going to look at getting a teacher, just wanting to be able to go in with enough knowledge to be able to understand some of the terminologies and things

  40. We've been through far tougher times than this and come out the other side. Economies go through cycles, we've just experienced a very long cycle of low unemployment, low interest rates, and low inflation. That, combined with huge government spending and disruptions to industry and supply chains during COVID, has caused the end of that cycle and the start of a new one.

  41. This is the thing that concerns me tbh. I probably should have said this in the OP but whilst I know we’ll come through this in one way or another, I do wonder what things will look like by that point. The level of accountability on a lot of these big companies (looking at you Cole’s and Woollies!) to do the right thing and lower prices in accordance with the market seems to be at an all time low. To be clear, I know this is how things have always worked, it just seems the degree to which it is practiced is becoming more and more blatant

  42. We were in much worse shape on early 1990s.

  43. Good example of what I’m talking about is AGL jacking their prices through the roof while at the same time announcing that they’ve doubled their profits. All while people are suffering

  44. No, the complex is under strata so technically it would be them getting sued but it’s still coming out of our sinking if it happens :(

  45. Yea, this is wild. I mean, they can try and sue you, but it appears you now, despite not even wanting this tree, have a pretty solid defence against your neighbours in the form of the council keeping your hands tied. Maybe your neighbours would be better off suing the council if they want to see this thing removed?

  46. We’ve suggested as much to them! Going to just keep all the council correspondence and hope for the best for now I think

  47. I'm a 37 year old faliure who works in domestic services at a hospital and is currently renting a room at mum's because I lost the house I was living in to floods last year. And every couple of months things get more expensive, rentals disappear and my relationship with my partner is deteriorating and she now wants to take a break. I feel like my life is pretty much over as well. I have pets that I will have to get rid of if I want to move into a proper rental too and that idea breaks my heart and depresses me more than I am now. My mum is selling her house to downsize as well as she is almost 70 and can't afford the mortgage anymore even with my rent. I really think I'm going to end up living in my little hatchback in a couple of months with my cats.

  48. That really sucks man and I’m sorry to hear it ☹️ it’s insane how tough things are getting! Also think it’s so wrong for people to be denied a lease cause of pets, I hope they’ll be a bit more lenient with cats at least

  49. Fellow late 30's guy here (37)You need to learn to appreciate what you have, instead of be upset over what you don't have.

  50. It’s not so much he sucks as just really isn’t a big fan of me as a person for whatever reason, which I’m turn affects career stability as I’m still in my probation period so I always feel like I’m only ever one small stuff up away from being sacked. I left a job of over ten years to come to this one cause the hours there were insane and I was burning out big time

  51. I do not. A lot of possums live in the area though

  52. Needs more sun and soil that is fast draining. They don’t like wet feet. Recommend to pull the potting mix and mix in 50% course river sand

  53. Thanks! It’s in a native mix in the sun but I guess even with the terracotta pot it may be getting a little too damp? I’ll give it a go!

  54. If you have an old USB joystick kicking around then you can try

  55. Nice, I’ll look into that for sure

  56. Definitely will! Very much appreciate the insight

  57. Maybe try Dicksonia rare plants if you can’t find one.

  58. I’ll give them a look. I’ve tracked one down at a place called Nielsens native nursery near me but I don’t know if it’s still there. My biggest concerns are wether it will do well in Brisbane and if it can cope with parts of the year where it won’t get sun for the entire day

  59. Yes, saw that, and it looked like Alchornea ilicifolia(Native Holly) which we have lots of here in SEQ
