  1. When I took my Japanese friends to the US they all complained about the milk. It is different because of the pasteurization process. I am used to Japanese milk and I like it. My Dad was Dairyman of Year in WA State in 1959 so I know a little about milk. I think people enjoy what they are used to, period.

  2. Can you speak about the taste of milk from different types of dairy cows?

  3. Honestly, no. But I believe that the two most deciding factors for the taste is the diet of the cows (pasture, type of hay, etc.) and the milk processing.

  4. Everyone makes mistakes. Idiots and non-idiots alike.

  5. I enjoy catching tuna only because it's a fight for survival on each end of the rod. Pure pandamonium.

  6. You are OK eating stocked trout in urban lakes if allowed by city health dept. There is a degree of contamination in all rivers, lakes and streams. Limit your consumption similar to limiting canned fish consumption (mercury). Or catch and release and buy some farm raised product.

  7. Yes, but I still wouldn’t. I’d eat out of a couple snohomish lakes or otherwise just buy it like you said.

  8. You are probably wise in your choice. I limit myself to one trout a year from the upper Yakima River not because of contaminents, of which there may be some, but because it's a catch-and-release fishery.

  9. Likely wild. Nature finds a way, eventually.

  10. Nice shots. Japan is pretty cool. The food is great. It is also more affordable, for me at least, than in the last 40 years.

  11. I was also a college exchange student. I was just getting my foreign language requirement finished before I started my career as a fire lookout or a park ranger. I ended up marrying a Japanese girl and 40 years later I'm still here. Fate I guess.

  12. I mentioned this before but I was asked to join a well-known blues singer while on an overseas tour. The 2nd night at one location I was hanging out nursing a beer when I noticed the band was on-stage ready to go. I hurriedly grabbed my strat and got on stage. We started out with an original song that I start out with a slow BB type intro. Well, what happened was that my strap was wrapped around my whammy bar and when I started playing I was entirely out of key. I never lived that down but at least now I can laugh about it and share this experience with others. Like Neil sez..."Don't let it get you Down". Keep on playin'.

  13. I think it is especially prevalent with tourists in groups...as if nobody else exists outside of their little social circle....thus they don't need to consider anyone or anything else in regard to their actions.

  14. I've had some very bad bouts with red cedar pollen over the last 20 years. This year not so bad. I do take 10mg of Loratadine or sometimes half of that every 12 hours. By now Im pretty back to normal, though.

  15. Late night controversial take time- I feel like Carp being a major species to target in Europe is more out of necessity than anything else.

  16. I agree with you, mostly. However, I come from WA State where we have a ton of salmonoids to catch but have lived in Asia for the past 40 years. I've caught giant Mekong catfish as well as other species and I guess I want to say that it's mostly what you're used to catching and what your comfortable with.

  17. The Greene Gestapos in Congress as well as the Trumpers might as well be flying red flags. They are traitors to all who ever wore a uniform.

  18. Im in Yokohama but Im a beer drinker. However, if you ever get a chance visit the Nikka Whiskey distillery in Hokkaido. Just a short train ride from Sapporo. Great museum, great whiskey. The founder was married to a Scottish gal and they had one heck of a ride.

  19. I second the sablefish. Best eating in the damn ocean

  20. The sablefish, also called black cod. A bit tricky to clean but follow recipes, including Japanese sauces, on youtube. There are not many fish as tasty as a sablefish, or what the Japanese call "gindara". Miso grill it.

  21. Japanese have dark eyes that are more tolerant of brightness. They also have a higher pain threshold.

  22. I am paid in USD so, yeah, I like the weak yen. I only wish the yen was like this when I bought my house 23 years ago. I also will say that I see some major inflation happening in Japan as a result of higher commodity prices and that will hurt everybody no matter what currency they are living on.

  23. MTG is certifiably insane. She's a true member of the MAGA cult.

  24. i think this is the most bad ass balls out assault i have ever seen for real. this is stuff normally done hollywood movies. holy shiiiiit !

  25. Manager's check made out to me and all the proper signatures are on it.

  26. Japan resident here - I rarely ever have to make reservations unless it is a posh place

  27. I stay away from hookahs. But sometimes they follow me.

  28. Hey, try the best breakfast you ever had at a 7-11. Coffee and an onigiri. That by itself is worth all the commotion.

  29. Naw. It's a long season. We'll come back much stronger.

  30. I honestly think that many retired guys, and others, enjoy the military precision-type combat fishing situations. It's social, their buddies are out there, and maybe they get too much solitude at home anyway. My last, and hopefully, only combat experience was at Drano Lake on the Columbia for steelhead several years ago. Everyone just cruises in circles hoping for a hatchery steely.
