As a Jewish person, the fact that zero players have come out to show any sort of support / statement that Stephen Jackson is wrong, is tremendously demoralizing and upsetting.

Putting yourself on the line for us - you are the perfect super hero!

  1. Haha yeah i was having similar thoughts! Lots of emergency/trauma medicine going on!

  2. So they have a test for hCG, which is only used for pregnancy tests, just freely available on the Hab? And the doctor had time to run it?

  3. Sure, but he had a patient on the cusp of death and he was very likely being observed/helped. Testing for hCG is a very useless test when all you're doing is trying to test for type (which Kelly already told him).

  4. I misunderstood the question, I see what you mean now. I agree, seems like the least useful test to run when you're trying to save two critical patients.

  5. Was a welcome surprise when I went to the show last week, immediately made sure to snag both signed vinyls. So difficult to get even an unsigned copy of any of their albums.

  6. Just go into surgery. Burn-out is high among EM residents, and you really have to love what you're doing in ED to keep yourself from going nuts, and even then it feels difficult at times. Surgery life-style is rough but if you loved it, you'll probably be regretting not going into it a few years into EM, esp if the sinking-ship theory comes to fruition.

  7. I've found it helpful to review material while on shift when I have a chance on at least one of my cases. I don't always have the luxury but it has been the most effective method for me to learn. I often find myself wanting to just turn my brain off after a shift and it never really sticks even if I do a few questions or read an article.

  8. I've gone to two of their shows by myself. People are friendly and just as excited as you are to see them. Once the music starts, it is easy to forget you are there alone because everyone gets into it and starts singing and dancing with all of the songs.

  9. Finally get oddball but teammates quit because they needed ctf

  10. I've got to say, I feel like they replace quitters pretty quickly. It's annoying for about a few seconds. You may not even pick up on it happening in some games.

  11. As someone who hasn't bought a battle pass for any of these season-based MP games despite 100s of hours (apex, warzone, PUBG, etc), I still don't understand why people need a "progression system". Isn't getting better at the game the only progression that actually matters? Who cares if you have a fancy hat when you can't mount a comeback win or save your teammates in dire situations? What are you playing for?

  12. Honestly, f*k whoever executive is insisting on monetizing this game so heavily *so early...*I feel bad for the devs who now have to watch as all their hard work is overshadowed by the unrelenting greed at display here.

  13. The MP is free and the BP is tied to cosmetics only. You can put 100s of hours into the game and never pay a dime.

  14. Late nights with the old squad in the Halo: Reach days.

  15. Actually most people’s immune systems can handle toxo, it’s the immune-compromised we worry about.

  16. Black males under 40? Forget about it. I've tried reasoning with many. To little avail, sadly.

  17. For reference, in the US nursing:patient ratios on surgical short stay floors are 1:8 in many places.

  18. He honestly feels more American than Asian to us with Filipino blood. Those Heineken commercials with him speaking in Filipino were just so meh

  19. So like critical care a fellowship, but with SICU focus? I'm sure they exist.

  20. I am not sure what sicu means. Overall we have really different system for specializing than in the us. Could you elaborate sicu for me?

  21. Surgical intensive care unit / critical care unit

  22. We would’ve been in a pandemic regardless of who the president is. We would in all likelihood have fewer dead, but unemployment would probably be higher, evictions would probably be a bigger issue, and the economy would be worse off. I’m not saying trump is good- in fact he’s terrible. But jesus himself couldve come down from heaven and been elected president: the nation would still be worse off than it was 4 years ago, because of corona alone.

  23. I'm not sure how you are making all those predictions when other countries have survived this pandemic rather well compared to us. Stricter lock-down sooner would have prevented much of what we're experiencing now.

  24. The root of the problem is poor national transportation infrastructure coupled with a poor healthcare infrastructure. PA/NPs are not filling that rural healthcare gap because nobody really wants to live out there, and the healthcare system we have in place prioritizes profit over the health of the public, so hospitals/systems are going to obviously want to cut corners where they can.

  25. This thread is an embarrassment to the profession. I don't care how tough this guy is, that is no way to speak to a patient, and none of you should be taking after him.

  26. How about you think critically about the barriers the patient is facing? Too hard? Not your job?

  27. I am disgusted by his words, but seeing the anti-blackness in this thread is confirming how support of BLM as a whole is conditional in that ALL members of the black community fall in-line with specific actions. We are well fucking aware of the resentment that exists in the black community towards model minorities, since they have long been manipulated to put black people down by white supremacy. How about just call out Stephen Jackson individually without expecting prominent black people to speak on behalf of all black people? Where is your rage for when people don't speak out on other atrocities across the world that aren't HK/antisemitism/blm? Or do you just want an excuse to not support BLM anymore?

  28. Good people are out there, outraged and marching for every black life lost at the hands of police. We do not get to choose who receives justice. I feel your frustration, but you cannot go down this train of logic. So many of our black brothers and sisters have been killed without their families ever seeing justice.

  29. What exactly the same backgrounds? I'd rather see games that come out from Africa than another subset of Americans.

  30. I was feeling the same way before starting residency...I asked pretty much every EM resident I knew what I should be doing to prepare for residency, and most of them said the same thing: "enjoy the end of 4th year". The only other thing I seem to remember a few telling me was to just have ekg basics down, but otherwise it was mostly just advice to "relax" before residency. A few things that make this better advice for EM vs other specialties is that, as far as I know, a vast majority of US programs have a whole "orientation" month in July. This is where you learn a lot of the things mentioned. For mine we did FCCS (an ICU crash course which goes over vent settings and other important things for super sick patients), ATLS, EKG "boot camp", among other things. You also will likely do a few shifts in the department that are very focused on learning rather than seeing a lot of patients. I definitely feel that if you did absolutely no studying between now and July, your orientation month should be more than adequate to prepare you for your first "real" shifts.

  31. I really appreciate this, thank you! With everything going on right now, I have felt pretty guilty taking it easy, but this made me feel a little less like that.

  32. This fixed my issue. Thank you so much! I could not for the life of me understand why the game was using my old HDD when I have almost nothing on it.
