  1. FWIW OP, we didn't stop using BTC for regular transactions because of a culture shift...no, the culture shifted in part because tax classifications and other regulations made it de facto illegal to use crypto as an everyday spending/earning money...and I guess a bunch of bitcoiners had in their heads that the government could never affect bitcoin or something, so they ignored reality and made up a narrative in their heads that bitcoin was always just a store of value.

  2. Do you know when America stopped being great? When we stopped immigrants from entering the country.

  3. I don't think you'll find anyone here who agrees with warrantless searches or business raids, we are only asking to deport illegals who get caught committing crimes, and to stop new illegals from coming in, that's it. Ones already in that never have contact with police we couldn't care less about, a border nationalist libertarian does not mean we want stop and frisk or search of randoms on the street.

  4. There is no "we" asking the state to do anything, especially to violate rights of people and disrupt labor markets, just because they crossed your state's imaginary lines.

  5. You don't have to, just leave your id at home or with someone, get a good tan, learn Spanish, sneak over the border then back across and fake an accent. Boom all the free goodies

  6. This is the new right wing version of the lefts' imagination that getting rich is just a matter of greed...they're just to principled to be greedy enough to show how easy it would be for them to test that theory and prove it to everyone.

  8. As usual, whenever experts in a given field clamour for government interventions, neither they nor anyone else ever bothers to consider consulting expertise in the entire other half of their proposal: govt/political economy

  9. When ppl say that kind of thing....I'm totally ready to accept that there are many people out there much smarter than I am; but also I don't have a coding background or experience and for those of you who did, I wonder how much different the learning curve is on a large game engine?

  10. It did. But you still haven't answered mine.

  11. Why won't you answer the question? How do you prevent me defending myself against someone defending their property?

  12. In Germany (as well as in Argentina) being "liberal" means being classically liberal or generally in favor of free markets, and "ultraliberal" means radical libertarian. The US terminology is just a bit confusing in that regard.

  13. In the u.s., we have actually recently mostly taken back the term "liberal" to mean it in the classical liberal sense.

  14. 5.3 has been the most stable version for me.

  15. This forum has saboteurs pretending to be ancap, and defending the woke with the pretense that it is a "conservative things", and ancaps should not be worried, or claiming that the woke are "not the government".

  17. I'm. Not too, ancap, and don't often comment here because I'm more just here to read what they think. Study if you will. What I'd imagine the answer will be is that if police weren't around, private citizens would have felt the imperative to protect their towns. The presence of police creates a threat of punishment for protecting yourself as well as a false sense of crime not being your problem.

  18. That's not half bad and I'm surprised you've been able to glean even that much, given that a majority of people here now are closer to 'thin-blue-line' flying conservatives, than actual ancaps.

  19. The error in this is equating their idea of “defund the police” with “abolish the state”. Defunding the police leaves a vacuum for villainy while the state gets to prove what ever point they want to make. If violence skyrockets then that’s the point they get to prove, “see what happens when you don’t have us to protect you?”. If the streets, all of a sudden, are filled with good old boys driving around in pick up trucks with guns, looking for trouble makers and regular citizens are scared to go outside… “see what happens when we aren’t there to protect you?”

  20. I think this is an absolutely correct principle and insight with most institutions (including statist institutions).

  21. It's plausible that at the top end (meaning, the most capital-intensive works of art or new molecules/drugs), we might see less overall production of these things under a free market, than under a state/IP regime.

  22. In the tweet he says, "newcomers migrate to jobs not welfare" but currently we're seeing illegal migrants receiving thousands of dollars in benefits in certain areas after illegally entering the country.

  23. Much better evidence of the success of pasteurization in preventing illness.

  24. Why is it that you people are incapable of understanding how anything works: holistic cost-benefit analyses, political externalities, unintended consequences, counterfactuals, diffuse costs concentrated benefits, liberty as a good in and of itself (i.e. not just a means towards other ends)?

  25. Why would that be? The state creates a massive amount of disutility...especially loss of liberty (which is a good unto itself, and can be held as such by utilitarians).

  26. Welcome to r Anarcho_Capitalism, a place to discuss free market capitalist anarchism and related topics, and share things that would be of interest to Anarcho-Capitalists.

  27. Right from the start, the arguments are flawed. From the anarcho's perspective, you cannot initiate force. His examples are people using protection agencies to enforce rules and initiate violence to enact those rules.

  28. Huemer doesn't like the Oxford style debates either. Lol.
