  1. I can name all of the countries of the world in one go

  2. Throwing my alarm clock out the window, rolling over and going back to sleep

  3. It does make sense because Iā€™m highlighting the differences between Britain and Northern Ireland. Thereā€™s not much reason for the average person to think about Northern Ireland when thereā€™s nothing to relate to, as Iā€™ve already said. I canā€™t relate to the nationalist Irish community because Irish culture is not my culture and I donā€™t care if Northern Ireland is in the UK or in Ireland (because it does not affect my interests). I also canā€™t relate to a ā€œUnionistā€ community that is insecure about its place in the UK and unironically celebrates battles that happened 400 years ago. What is there to like, enjoy, or be curious about in terms of that? These strange divisions are so, so far removed from anyoneā€™s reality in England or indeed Britain generally.

  4. Youā€™re right in saying that NI is far removed from the average English persons thoughts and reality, itā€™s just the way it is. Itā€™s perceived very differently by Irish & English people and this is also down to difference in education.

  5. Romania is Bogdan. Literally everyone and their dog is named bogdan in Romania

  6. I thought Barry was short for Barrington as we have a guy at work with that name.

  7. Calling a child Barrington as a first name takes knobby to a new level - poor guy :(

  8. Oh pleaseā€¦. This makes no sense whatsoever -

  9. I donā€™t get what it is that you expect your bf to do in this situationā€¦ short of starting a fight with every stranger who makes a comment to you, he cannot control the actions of other people.

  10. It's not inaccurate from what I've been told by people from India.

  11. European countries ARE experiencing mass immigration at the near enough the same level as Canada. Itā€™s causing the same issues over here

  12. That's mostly Scandinavia, Germany and France. Most of central, Eastern Europe doesn't, and before Ukraine some of them have net negative migration.

  13. How is it that some people come under their radar and get harassed while many others donā€™t ever hear from them? This baffles me

  14. What sort of xenophobic bullshit is that? You want me to denounce being born in England because some people did some stuff hundreds of years ago when my great great grandfather was down a mine in Bargoed?

  15. Who exactly gets free education and prescriptions that you donā€™t?

  16. I rescued a puppy who was headed for the pound.

  17. Why does it matter that you arenā€™t dating? People shouldnā€™t lie to their friends either.

  18. Theyā€™ve been friends for 2 months. His current living situation is none of her business whatsoever - sheā€™s insulted because she wanted a relationship with him in the near future, she has no right to get mad about this.

  19. Iā€™ve known him for two years and I would maybe be open to one after I got to know him better to build a foundation and develop a friendship. Iā€™m Also not mad or insulted All you needed to do was read buddy šŸ˜†

  20. Youā€™re completely contradicting yourself here and this is my whole point. Please read your own writing.

  21. Lizzie was also the last living connection to a bygone era, the British Empire of old. There's just something special about that connection, in a similar fashion to how there's much more attention to the last living veterans of a war. Once that connection dies, it feels like it truly becomes a part of the past.

  22. Yes, in the past where it belongs. Iā€™ll never understand this romanticising of the empire but sure who cares what I think, carry on

  23. Tbh I think itā€™s easy when current life is shit. The empire was not just us being at our strongest, richest etc, but when we ruled the world, at a time when it wasnā€™t fully explored and it all seemed so new.

  24. Ok, considering the one dimensional view you have of the ā€œempireā€, I get what youā€™re trying to say.

  25. it's a pointless aim if you're just going to cause problems for everyone involved. unifying Ireland and northern Ireland has a lot of potential, but without a plan for both them and us, it will more than likely increase poverty, increase immigration, and there's still a huge potential for a prolonged violent conflict.

  26. Weā€™re not exactly a third world country anymore, our economy on paper can well afford it. In what way would it increase immigration?

  27. Whatā€™s horrific about lottery tickets?

  28. Itā€™s a bit of a stupid question but I get where youā€™re going.

  29. There are multiple instances of such people being treated, being released back into the community and not reoffending. There are entire countries that follow the treatment/supervision model successfully. There is even victim-offender reconciliation programs, where victims voluntarily participate in the offenders reintegration into the community.

  30. There are also multiple instances of such people being treated and released back into society and re-offending - which means more innocent victims, people who wouldā€™ve been protected and safe had the prisoner stayed behind bars.

  31. In Ireland, since covid there have been ads everywhere from the government / health service on tv, radio & workplaces telling people to ā€œstay home if youā€™re sickā€ā€¦ In reality Iā€™ve found that unless youā€™re in a high management role at work, calling in sick is not tolerated by most employers here.

  32. Physically, Yes. A toothache that lasted 3 days - Iā€™d pick childbirth anyday over experiencing that again!

  33. Finish up work and jump in the leased Toyota straight to Supervalu for the messages, back home in time for dinner (Same Friday dinner for the past decade, probably pork chops or Shepards Pie) finish up with a cup of bland tea and digestives for desert followed by the Late Late Show.

  34. Umbrellas are a no no, far better to stand there getting soaked and moan about itā€¦
