  1. i don't fiddle soundstage and eq as much as i used to. i guess theres only two sound stages if that is what you mean by depth and range.

  2. I have a few questions; how "bad" is the anc? Is it mediocre in the sense its like the average modern anc headphone that isn't Sony/bose or is it particularly bad?

  3. the way the anc works makes me realise that shures idea of ANC is whitenoise cancelling (eg fan noise), not everyday life every noise cancelling. If you are finding headphones for just getting 0 noise no matter what happens to the outside world these headphones fall short. for augmenting music listening in your own room/gaming they are great.

  4. Can I ask how did you replace the hinge? Did you need to disasemble the whole laptop?

  5. just glue it using epoxy. and yes had to disassemble quite alot

  6. if u need someone to set up a proxy for that I'm always here ;)

  7. im not going to lie best bet would be something like a geometry library and you write the fill algorithm

  8. You should know, that on very powerful laptops that were bought specifically for compiling Firefox, it takes 30+ minutes to compile "from scratch". I expect most of the hot keys you might want to change would be doable using what's called an artifact build though, which are much faster, at least after the first one.

  9. at this point 30 minutes sounds cheap. thanks for the input

  10. That's a Reddit bug, it incorrectly changes the link url to lowercase, you can observe the name of the pdf file has an uppercase F, so you might need to copy and paste the link or just change the F to uppercase.

  11. ok I found it. It does seem to have the conclusion you are implying, but this paper is missing steps for reproduction. I'm not going to argue about the validity of the paper for now, but you shouldn't hang on to one paper. is there a benchmark repository?

  12. that looks like an antenna, which is supposed to not be connected to anything. Can you check that?

  13. as another comment said, > is broken for binary date because of the string conversation (haven't been following how powershell has been fixing this). use -o

  14. if (grayscale < thresholdValue) { return true; }else{ return false; }

  15. The way brightness works with LEDs is that it flickers on and off rapidly. I can't really guarantee that's the case for this laptop but there's a good chance that they have a brightness lower limit for this reason: you will be able to notice the flicker when the brightness is low

  16. Not all displays use PWM. Many use DC dimming. There’s still no easy way to lower the brightness per se, but you can lower the perception of brightness by lowering the white point. There’s plenty of options to do this

  17. DC dimming is also available, but if that is the case then lowering the brightness itself might be impossible due to hardware limitations, right?

  18. what does event viewer show btw? and device status on device manager

  19. you have a point. have you looked into ahk though?

  20. Need multimeter. Check voltages for each battery. If one is abnormal charge it (using dc power supply) to same level as others. if you are paranoid you can manually power cycle as well and measure total capacity. If all batteries are fine, solder them back.

  21. Did you know that is a lot of misinformation here! Some of troll here, like the stupid above, want harm your computer with a piece of software that gonna damage your laptop.

  22. g helper builds are literally from github actions

  23. Github is a nest of infected software! I don’t understand why trolls don’t put the same energy to ask to Asus to build or improve AC!

  24. Actually yeah I agree. We should ask ASUS to improve Armoury Crate. Having quality assurance on software governing thousand dollar machines is a great idea. Maybe we should start tagging them and give our genuine opinion about what we want in our software. I'll install Armoury Crate again thinking about it

  25. everything. there's no point of reference in your post. are you talking about ddg search or one of the ddg browsers. what OS are you using? i mean all you had to do was to pick a helpful flair but you didn't even do that.

  26. Ok in the other comment I explained too

  27. 48gb ram, 2tb ssd, 4060. Eco mode and g helper gives about 4 hours of programming related work battery life. 7940hs is rly good

  28. No, we need open sdks so g helper can get even better

  29. Please ignore the cries of I can’t breathe, it’s just so she’ll be nice to mommy again :)

  30. I forgot this existed now im back to square one

  31. I just turn the lights off and enjoy less fps

  32. I turned the lights off too, But they turn back on in the power down state. :(

  33. Meta rant: not specifying specifically laptop or PC, no budget range/country, no mention of programs/tools you will use will make it harder for others to give suggestions.
