What is this map? I’m looking at it on my phone and am fascinated by all the symbols and color codes but have no idea what they represent. I need to go find a larger screen.
I’m a Hatford Nutmegger living in Queens for over 20 years and amused by the fact that I’m raising a native NYer. I’m absolutely a NEer just ask my Brooklyn born spouse.
Try to get a place in Manhattan b/c you're going to want to stop there at some point during the day. You'll thank yourself for not having to travel out to Queens or NJ to take a rest before dinner. A friend visited last year with her 16 year old, she'd originally booked something affordable around mid-town, but closer to her date (June) a great room in Chinatown popped up and she grabbed it. I don't remember the price. But it was probably around $180? It can be done. Be flexible on neighborhoods, but try to stay somewhere that you'd also like to explore. Have a great time. I don't think anyone is ever too old to find NYC a magical place.
National guard should be on the street taking a bunch of vehicles away from their shitty drivers. And the cars with fake and obscured plates and overly tinted windows and the drivers who don't slow on yellow in order to stop on red and stop before the crosswalk and don't ease into the intersection before it's clear or the light is green and drivers who throw open their doors into the bikes without looking and those who turn into the bike lane whether they could see someone coming or .... there are so many people who need to have their vehicles confiscated... but national guard on the subway platforms to "catch" the folks on the trains who are having a really really bad day???? ... yeah... that'll work.. cool
I wish. I’m not a candidate. My eyesight is too poor for it to work. My eye doc has me looking forward to the cataract surgery I’ll need at some point. Oooh good times down the road.
Is walkshed an official word? It’s my first time seeing it and it might be my new favorite word. 1 mile IS ridiculous. and anything not connected to a network of at least 3-5 miles shouldn’t count. So F this map.
I’ve been here for 22 years. Went to Magnolia Bakery for the first time today. Ate the banana pudding. It was really frickin good. Damn you FoodNYC sub!! 🥰😜🤗
If folks drive the wrong way on a one way street and it’s witnessed, people will try to stop the vehicle, wave, yell, etc. and police would surely do something (I think). But drive on sidewalk or in bike lane, people clear the way for them like they’re folk heroes.
As of 7:44 sitting on a non moving W with doors wide open. We left Astoria blvd about ten minutes ago. Why didn’t I take the bus? (We are stationed at 30th)
The reason I took train today was that there were no busses running on 21st. 69, 66, 100 were all more than 12 min away (which means 20+). Walked to N and sat for 40 min. Got off found Citibike (3 stops away. All others were empty). Rode to queensplaza. Trains running (including N) fine when I got there. 1 hour late. And counting. Never again.
We spent 3 weeks in Canada this summer, definitely noticed all of the e-wheelchairs in the bike lanes. Apparently their health system helps to pay for, or completely pays for them. There are so many. It was great to see.
Mom, I'm famous!
Nice work! And SugarRay looks great too!
I rode my bike to jury duty several years ago and recall locking up at a rack in front of the courthouse.

I think dating apps have ruined accountability for being an AH. Because you don’t meet people in your social circle as much they can get away with it.
There’s a Liza Minelli song about having to leave NYC to meet the guy next door.

The F train is back at Queensbridge if that's helpful?
They should've opened up in Little Ohio near Applebee's
Little Ohio....lol... I love this so much

is there a crown keychain on it?
I don’t mind riding in the rain, but I wear glasses. Please find me a fix for not being able to see once my glasses get wet.
LASIK was my solution. Probably not a solution for the masses though

Love that the walkshed for the bike network is increased to 1 mile so they can get that 99% figure, compared to the protected lane 1/4 mile walkshed

Those "protected bike lanes" that are as long as my finger nail and not connected to any network, shouldn't count. b/c they're not worth a darn.
We actually cried over this. GOAT 🦉🦉🦉
GOOAT

From CT 10000 years ago: 8th grade trip was to DC, Williamsburg VA, Lancaster PA and Busch Gardens (amusement park).
I can’t believe I wrote here instead of HER! Blargh No idea how to edit headline. On TEACHER REDDIT. so embarrassing 🙈

Is she from Seattle?
I will believe it when I see it. They've been pulling us along for years now.
Exactly. This doesn’t sound definite at all
Try donorschoose.org
Not much on there in these neighborhoods. Specifically STEM projects. 🤷♀️
Yep. Thought of that after posting. Thanks.

Bus system varies depending on where you live. Terrible in queens.
unless you're on an express lane. life changing

Neir's Tavern. Operating since 1829. Worth the visit to Woodhaven Queens.
