  1. Oh man, they are going to learn some hard lessons through several large lawsuits and be in the news for their awful labor practices until they lose enough face to pull out.

  2. Whatever happen to systems of support to guide addicted people into programs that would help them like social services, addiction treatment, a state mental hospital, trained police, designated camping sites, and more?

  3. No, we live in a city that was established as a corporation, and named after a general to try to woo him into a relationship, by lazy men that hated climbing on everything but each other.

  4. I'm from the PNW. Still too confused by the yellow orb in the sky and the yuppies to partake in lame Denver traditions.

  5. Looks like a douche mobile for the grind set tech bros that think Burning Man is a spiritual experience.

  6. Someone's either dealing meth, or is a hit man for the mafia. The question is how you got away with smuggling contraband to Pueblo? And how loose your asshole is from your adventures?

  7. It could be confirmation bias but I feel like Spotify is super unreliable recently. It crashes constantly and it was doing so many weird things with podcasts that I had to switch to another app and now only use Spotify for music. It feels like they tried what twitter did and fired the engineers that are behind the scenes making the apps run without issues.

  8. Their suggested playlists suck too. I switched to Deezer and Pandora and never looked back.

  9. Legit, this has been my argument for all of the confederate statues in the states because I fell like we should put them in a place where we can educate people on their evils.

  10. The problem is that the bike lanes are far too sparse in that area, and when they are available, they are generally one ways going the wrong direction, so I think what you're witnessing is people opting to go the wrong way instead of riding blocks in the wrong direction in search of a lane that will take them the correct way. It sucks, but that's what we get when we have bike infrastructure that isn't that well thought out.

  11. Even on two-way streets with bike lanes going in both directions, I've encountered plenty of people going the wrong way in the bike lanes.

  12. My question then is why? Could it be that the way we design bike lanes doesn't work, people being lame, or is it some nefarious plot to distract the people of

  13. We had Friday jean days for free, but we were also required to stay at school after the kids left for two brutal hours of bullshit PDs.

  14. The idea that anything but a supportive community matters. A happy life isn't one filled with things, it's one doing things that matter with people that matter.

  15. It was one of the first big ones. Thurston, which you likely haven't heard of, was the same deal. Also note that it was an era of satanic panic with all of the nu-metal that was popular, so that was all over the news, and not adhering to social norms in high school was seen as a problem to be solved instead of the celebration of differences it is today.

  16. Tmobile is pretty good, I have no complaints. Has better coverage than verizon. They also have a starlink partnership now so they will have coverage anywhere you can see the sky. That's going to be really useful up in the mountains once it gets activated.

  17. They don't just use their network, Tmobile owns them. Mint won't be getting service through starlink satellites though.

  18. Forgot they were acquired. The Starlink thing isn't that big of a deal.

  19. Too many rules. Just do the best you know how and forgive yourself for what you can't, or don't know how to do. It's not like CEOs aren't drinking long islands with their buddies on long business lunches anyway. One doesn't simply get ahead by not having a life.

  20. Student centered learning is the dumbest idea created by non educators who assume high schoolers are "smart". They are children who need to be taught directly and constantly.

  21. The problem is that it kind of works in wealthy schools with involved parents and students that want to learn.

  22. Direct instruction is a tool, and it works in concert with the other tools at our disposal, because it takes all of the distractions out of the equation.

  23. This "experiment" would be flawed even if he didn't give up halfway through because he's bringing with him a college degree, financial expertise, no preexisting substance abuse problems, no preexisting mental illness, research regarding sources of aid to exploit, and most importantly (as the post indicates), financial and medical safety nets in case he gets in trouble: all things that real homeless people would not be able to benefit from to nearly the same extent. The fact that he had all of these upper hands and still failed to achieve his goal proves his hypothesis to be categorically false, actually.

  24. It's all about a network, and the dude likely has at least a handful of friends that would hook him up.

  25. It's a combination of factors: traffic, routing, frequencies (yes this matters), wheelchairs loading slow, drivers waiting too long at stops, a lack of incentives to be on time, and traffic on some routes.

  26. I've always wondered how many Western expats in Taiwan end up leaving compared to other countries in Asia. My impression was that more end up staying compared to countries such as Japan, Korea, Thailand, Vietnam etc. Some of it is probably due to residency laws I imagine, but Japan's actually doesn't seem that bad.

  27. Taiwan's just comfortable enough to suck the ambition out of people that didn't really have much of it to begin with, so it attracts long term people that either get sucked in (married, kids), or people that have a chubuduo lifestyle and see leaving comfort as a negative.

  28. If it works for you, there's nothing wrong with it, but a lot of people don't stay because there's no career path beyond what they already have.

  29. You're super hurt and don't know it OP. Go to the hospital and get everything the doctors will give you. Then sue the shit out of the guy for the damages. Or at least that's what locals do.

  30. The shitty thing is that the NIA will wait for his current one to expire and not renew his new one. Or at least that's what happened to a guy I knew that got in legal trouble.

  31. Came here to say this! Burmese is the best mixture of all of the Asian foods and more.
