  1. You have lots going on and this wouldn’t explain ~all of it~, but have you had Celiac antibodies tested? IgA transglutaminase and IgA for gliadin. Some patients with celiac don’t present with GI upset, despite it causing problems in the small intestine. Symptoms can include malabsorption of some Vitamins like D as well as joint pain & fatigue.

  2. Wait... my mom had Celiac, and I have chronic Vitamin D deficiency, joint pain, and fatigue... time to make an appointment

  3. I am Licensed in NY and CA, the two most notoriously difficult states to get licensed in. I’m an LMFT and art therapist and I didn’t qualify as an art therapist in NY despite having all the necessary qualifications, because they do not allow dual licenses without separate masters degrees and practicum.

  4. I am still in school, but planning on getting licensed in NY. Can you explain why it's notoriously difficult...? This is scary lol

  5. You know I’m glad to read this. I’ve been told before that since mom isn’t, I’m not. But dad was. So I know I am. He wasn’t a ‘good’ Jew by any means, not very devout or orthodox, but it is was who he was. It is who I am. My mom always said she was Jewish by injection. ;) Anyway, glad to be a part of such a resilient and wonderful community.

  6. That's not really the same thing because almost every Jewish movement agrees that Judaism is matrilineal. If you are Reform and raised Jewish then of course within the movement you would be considered Jewish.

  7. You guys remember when we used to do therapy?

  8. This take is kind of condescending... Basically, "We shouldn't be too worried about saying hurtful and invalidating things because trans people need to face reality and get used to it"? Like, they're already used to it, trans people are not naive, but this attitude is weird. Just because a certain hurtful behavior is common doesn't mean people have to be okay with it. And simple mistakes happen, just like people will mispronounce people's names sometimes, but that doesn't mean trans people need to "figure out" that they need to "live with it". It is actually valid and understandable that it is a hurtful thing in a deeply personal and immediate way, and while therapy should offer tools to help people who happen to be really strongly affected by this kind of thing and need help regulating or coping with their emotions, there is absolutely no benefit to just accepting carelessness (at best, or bigotry at worst) and not doing everything you can to try to avoid saying things that are hurtful, insensitive, and deeply invalidating.

  9. Another thing people don't seem to get is that being physically abused doesn't mean you are otherwise being treated appropriate and kindly but just randomly experience something resulting in physical pain sometimes. Physical abuse leaves deep emotional scars and trauma and isn't something that typically "ends when it's over" as many claim. It is almost impossible to be physically abused without that experience also being emotionally abusive. Living in fear of someone's anger, intimidation, and power over you is an emotionally traumatizing experience as well as physically.

  10. This did not work for me but T-Mobile users get free wifi on AA (at least for now), so if you don't use T-Mobile just type in any random T-Mobile number you know (I remembered a relative who uses it and just put in their number). It won't ask for SMS verification because you're in the air.

  11. Did not work for me but I figured out something else. T-Mobile gets free wifi so just type in any random T-Mobile number you know (I remembered a relative who uses it and just put in their number). It won't do SMS/MFA verification because you're in the air.

  12. Did not work for me but I figured out something else. T-Mobile gets free wifi so just type in any random T-Mobile number you know (I remembered a relative who uses it and just put in their number). It won't do SMS/MFA verification because you're in the air.

  13. It is a huge oversimplification to say there is an "Abrahamic God" that is the same figure for Jews, Christians, and Muslims.

  14. Hey if your parents are really sending you to conversion therapy you need to run. Those camps have something like a 80% suicide rate. They make you not gay by teaching you to hate yourself. Seriously, run! See if there are shelters in your area and try to find a lawyer if that’s possible. Sadly since you’re a minor you really have no rights and no say in what your parents do to you. Those camps are awful, many get shut down for human rights violations but the people in charge just open new camps under new names. They will lie to you and your parents to get you there and then practically hold you ransom while abusing you

  15. This is not accurate. Conversion therapy is super fucked up but it is not true that 80% of people sent there attempt or commit suicide. "Conversion therapy" is also not just one thing and it is not only camps. Hopefully OP can play it down and they will forget about it or send him to something less intense.

  16. i almost finished my 40 hours of training, and the website didn't complete my last quiz.. to get my certification. i couldn't open the website.

  18. NAD, but this is not just "underweight", this is obviously the kind of weight where you are constantly in danger of dying.

  19. Generally, from an Orthodox religious standpoint, Jews are supposed to marry Jews, and no other marriages are recognized as "real". Race is not a factor (ethnic Jews can be any race) so there would be no difference between marrying a Black, Arab, Asian, etc. woman as long as she was Jewish.

  20. You were absolutely sexually assaulted when you were 5-6 and 9 from what you describe, and I'm very sorry that happened to you. It is sometimes possible for people to entirely "block out" traumatic events, but more commonly people are aware that they happened if they were old enough to remember. Regardless of whether that specific rape occurred, you were already sexually assaulted and threatened with rape.

  21. I’m in a temporary foster family, the investigation is still going, I don’t know what will happen next.

  22. yes! im seeing a surgeon to help me get a revision. its really not looking right but i cant be too sure yknow?

  23. I am a trans man who got top surgery and did a lot of research. This is not even close to normal results. I am shocked they sent you home. I am sorry you are dealing with this and I hope your revision comes soon.

  24. I am doing the APF one. It is free as you know but I do not recommend it if you are looking for high quality instruction- it seems like 80% a narcissist just bragging about himself and talking down to the "student", and also for the reasons you said.

  25. It seems to be a reassurance that the person is not disagreeing with the person asking. Even if the asker did not state their opinion, the responder might assume an implication that they feel a certain way, or are expecting a certain response.

  26. Your risk will be about the same as cis men- slightly higher than cis women. You don't "need" to stop.

  27. Being a lifelong Bristol/Warren resident. All of my shoes growing up came from Jamiels shoe world on Main Street, in Warren.

  28. Widely suspected to be his son John. I knew the guy personally and ended up getting an order of protection for stalking from him. Honestly, knowing him and seeing his reaction to being kicked out of my workplace, I would not be surprised to learn he killed his dad. He seemed very mentally disturbed.

  29. This post is made here all the time and obviously different people feel different ways, but in my opinion, no. I joined during a time in my life when I was struggling with meeting people and making friends, but it didn't work, because most of the people I met were elitist assholes and very closed-minded, and the rest I just had nothing to say to. Even in the SIGs, there is usually no reason to think you'll have much more in common with Mensans than any other random group of people with one shared non-chosen trait (and even then, IQ isn't one trait [For example, I actually have clinically impaired processing speed and 75th-percentile working memory, making me much slower and "spacier" than most people with the same overall IQ as me- my verbal/perceptual reasoning just balances it out]).
