If you have the ability to also see a nutritionist, they could help make sure you're getting enough vitamins, minerals, protein, etc. I also got light headed and had headaches at first, until I adjusted to eating more protein- rich foods like beans and lentils. For me, it was blood sugar issues and the protein helped reduce sugar spikes.

I found a parasite in my piece of meat that I'd made sure to buy local from an ethical business. Just looking at meat still makes me nauseous. There's always the risk of that kind of thing in meat and fish. Also, my daughter went to veterinary school and worked with cows, pigs, goats, and sheep from local farms. She changed majors and became vegetarian because of how she saw the animals being treated, beyond the facade of what the farms showed customers.
I got some in California last year and they came in a zip- closed bag. I keep hoping they'll change to that here also.

The first time I went vegetarian it was because I lost my gallbladder, and high fat or high protein foods would make me nauseous and throw up. I enjoyed the diet, but lost so much weight I became dangerously thin and was medically encouraged to add meat back in.
