  1. Please keep all comments as 'shares from the I' and avoid judgment and advice

  2. Ok -- this is developing into an argument. At this point, everyone is free to read and take from this post what you want, agree/disagree/rage/[insert emotion]. However, I'm locking comments before this just becomes a fight. Slip is a good friend with a lot of wisdom sharing a belief he acquired in his own (very, very) long time sober. Take from it what you want.

  3. Please keep all statements supportive and from the I.

  4. As you know drinking is so bad even quitting can be harmful. Please go see a doctor, no one here is qualified to give medical advice.

  5. I was at a conference at Nike a few years ago and the coach of a major distance power program in the northwest gave a session on building team culture. The big points he made were to own a running shoe store and funnel roughly $40k to your team every year through a non-profit. Not exactly a thing I can replicate in a community with 95% of the kids on free or reduced lunch.

  6. I'm sad to say I agree with you. And I had never thought about

  7. This happens in every sport at most levels. Bigger schools with a bigger pool to pick from will do better most of the time, along with having the finances to follow through with training as you already know. I mean a school I was coaching at recently has cuts every year because so many kids come out for track. We don't have enough uniforms or transportation to get them to meets so we only kept 120-135 kids.

  8. We do -- but the problem is I'm getting beaten by the kids I developed in the youth USATF club and the middle schools lol. They make sure they say 'hi' though, and I'm really happy for their success as they kick the hell out of my high school team. But private schools recruit sprinters for football and track and so we don't see them at our neighborhood public school.

  9. If you don't like Dry January, you don't have to participate, so we recommend not reading those posts. However, we support anyone at all who is trying to cut back or stop drinking.

  10. So great to hear from you BT3! I am still around! These class reunions are the best.

  11. I can still do fun things like a zombie run. I just don't come up with the plan to do so while blacked out. For me it was romanticizing self destruction. I definitely needed to figure out some of why I hated myself like that.

  12. Yeah. That was true for me, too. Stopping drinking didn't solve every problem for me, but I couldn't work on the others until I stopped drinking.

  13. It was for me. I noticed how underslept I probably was. I still sleep more than I used to, but I feel better.

  14. Sometimes it helped me to procrastinate all of that and just get through this one hour. I can't change the past. I can't worry about the future. I can only deal with now. And making it to bed sober.

  15. Any time I ghosted a party no one ever cared. I never regretted it either.

  16. Congratulations. That's amazing and really inspiring. Thank you for sharing.

  17. Hi. As you know drinking is so bad that quitting can be fatal. All anyone here can say is the only acceptable thing-- please, please go to the ER.

  18. Obviously this is a topic that is tough to talk about and thanks to OP for sharing something personal that plenty of people can relate to. There are a lot of things to talk about with this but for this sub let's keep it to our own experiences and empathy. Thanks and IWNDWYT

  19. The insomnia will have to give at some point then you’ll be sleeping like a baby.

  20. That first night of real sleep is the greatest feeling in the world

  21. Yup, that was me too. Were we day drinking for 3 hours? Neat, time for me to really go ham back at home by myself tonight. After all, there's always the night game!

  22. Please don't solicit on the sub. We don't allow anyone to advertise their services here.

  23. I was not soliciting I was offering him something free to help him. Would you prefer it if take out the name of the audios and leave the response in. I don’t sell the supplements either I was simply going to recommend something to him that could help him

  24. Either way it's not allowed. Only shares from the I are allowed, not advice, nor the recommendations.

  25. I can't begin to tell you how much the perspective on my problems changed when I stopped drinking. I, too, have done some sketchy shit while drunk. I feel so much better about myself now it's amazing. I think you're doing a great thing.

  26. A note to everyone -- empathy, not advice, is appreciated. Thanks!

  27. If you are experiencing physical problems because of drinking, you really need to seek medical help. As you know drinking is so bad that even quitting can have serious complications, up to and including death. Here on the internet there are no doctors, or everyone's a doctor. So the only thing anyone can tell you is to please, please see a doctor. Thanks, and sober on!
