  1. In a similar boat with a 1/2 acre. We went with a 12x25 San Juan and close to the house, currently waiting for ground to settle before pouring decking. Def check your setbacks; luckily we have a good relationship with neighbors so we’re easily able to get a variance. Where does your afternoon sun come from? Biggest issue for us was spending enough time out there to ensure shadows from the house and fence wouldn’t cause too much shade on the pool or patio.

  2. Any better alternatives for kids as young as 6? A six string seems like too much and all the other options seem too much like toys from what I’ve seen. I guess you could do a ukulele. But being able to plug it into an actual amp like your parent uses on their guitars has it own cool appeal.

  3. Just get a 6 stringer and remove three strings, then add a string as they get comfortable then add another one then another until you’re back at 6.

  4. I thought about that, but the scale length of even a 3/4 squire Strat would be too much for this age. This seems like it will work well to get them into the concept until they’re ready for a 6 string 3/4 size.

  5. Of course, but Zeppelin stole songs without giving the original writers credit. Dazed and Confused by Jake Holmes, for example.

  6. They also stole a ton of songs and licks from The Yardbirds /s

  7. I have the origin 20 head and 2x12 vert cab - it’s plenty loud. The thing I love about it is the different power settings. I usually practice alone on low power, and still don’t hit 10 on the volume. With my band in a good but small acoustic space, I’ll put it on mid power and max volume. Full power for a bar setting def keeps up with the drummer and everyone else. It also just sounds fantastic, especially with the gain cranked.

  8. Do you find at those levels when going full power you have any clean headroom or are you at full crunch by that point? Thanks for the input!

  9. The one downside is that it’s single channel, so you always have to have some gain. We play a lot of CCR, Black Sabbath, and other classic rock so I usually have a decent amount of gain, which affects the volume. With less gain, it’s significantly quieter. If you’re looking for a cleaner tone, you probably want to check out the DSL.

  10. I've been playing for 40 years and never had a guitar set up. Is this normal for non pros? Am I missing out on something?

  11. If you don’t adjust it yourself, you are def missing out, at least on your acoustics. My guy charges $75 for a basic setup, which includes truss rod adjustment, nut and saddle/bridge adjustment. It’s night and day, takes a decent guitar to great.

  12. As long as you don’t mind playing funky music while you drink it

  13. Hey I have the same guitar! Dark Knight with the maple neck… just fantastic. You’re killing it for 3 months, you’ve def been focusing on learning your pentatonic scales. My advice, pick one classic blues/blues rock song per week, and get ready to pause and repeat it, and try to recreate some or every lick by ear. That will do two things - help you to hear and see the notes on the fretboard by trial and error, and also learn some classic licks that you can reuse or modify when you improvise. You’ll be surprised that many of the great licks you hear don’t require much movement up and down the fretboard.

  14. Unless you’ve written a very catchy folk tune about Vermont in November

  15. Learn the minor pentatonic scale by muscle memory - start with shapes 1, 2, and 5. You’ll also learn the major pentatonic since it’s the same thing just shifted down. Listen to the notes and learn where you what note you want to land on during the shifts from 1-4-5. Find some slow blues backing tracks and noodle for 30 mins a day.

  16. I think the Beatles were the perfect group of musicians for each other. I don’t like to compare. But…I have to say that Ringo was the best drummer in the band. Fight me.

  17. Ringo was not the Best drummer in the Beatles, but he was second to Best.

  18. Thats an interesting question, I know very little about the complicated relationship between states and the reservations but it would make sense that you be charged an import fee because you would be avoiding state taxes on the actual purchase.

  19. To register a vehicle in Connecticut, you have to pay the sales tax on the purchase, either through the dealer or at the DMV.

  20. Brownsville Butcher & Pantry at the base of Ascutney has a nice rotation of flavors, Frazers in Windsor makes them thick, & Green Mountain Sugar House in Ludlow, who luckily survived the flood.

  21. There is significant brain drain from rural communities in general, and CT is no exception, right?

  22. I live in eastern CT and am full time remote IT for a Hartford-based insurance company that is still remote-positive. With kids, it’s been the best improvement from a work-life balance I’ve had in my career. Eastern CT IMHO is undervalued because you get CT-level education and are 1 hour to Hartford and New Haven, 1.5 hours to Boston and under 1 hour to Providence.

  23. You have to get a Bag Burger at the Bag. If you can, try to get one of the penthouse units so you can cook meals and have the family come together. Skiing ends at 4pm up there so hit the Bag for a few drinks then up to the penthouse for a family dinner.

  24. Adding to this…Some of the rooms on the 5th floor of the hotel have full kitchens (529 is one, and has great views of the mountain) and will sleep 6 (or more if you have kids sleep on cots), so it’s worthwhile to call and ask for one of those. The huge hotel hot tub is epic.

  25. Guys, I heard New York pizza was great so I drove to NYC and went to this pizza place, “Uno” I think it was called. Well this was nothing like what I heard NY pizza was so good for, in fact it was more like a big wet pizza sauce pie. SMH New Yorkers, your pizza sucks.

  26. A liberal arts degree from a Connecticut community college satisfies all of the first two year gen ed requirement at any of the Connecticut state universities. You’re in a good spot to pick a high paying stem major, like computer Science, and get an entry level job at one of the insurance companies starting in the $65-70k range.

  27. Rashid Shaheed. This years breakout Xavier Hutchinson

  28. He was clutch in my return points league

  29. I have a rescue horse and dogs. Where is a good spot in the state for “horse country” where there might be a lot of vets and acreage? I’m also a libtard ally so please no conservative areas.

  30. Sterling, Plainfield, Griswold, and Voluntown. These towns surround Pachaug State Forest, the largest State Forest in the state, and it has a number of trails for horse riding. They are all in the far eastern part of the state, which does tend to lean conservative, but like most of New England, most folks tend to keep it to themselves in real life.

  31. I hate that they didn't even have a pop-up to tutorialize this....I learned about it in NG+ after bashing my head against the zipline tear.

  32. Fractured Momentum is the worst. This tip may have save many a rage quit for me.

  33. Tbh, love the pod racer next to it. Makes me want to make a display of all of Anakin’s ships: Podracer, N-1, Delta 7, ETA-2, and TIE Advanced x1.

  34. Thanks for the info, I considered picking up a pair of batons based on what I’ve read, even though I’ve been pretty happy using the same BD Traverse poles for the last decade. Only thing they’ve ever needed was a small tightening of the adjustment lever screw once or twice a season.
