to be frank if you’re just putting around, the basic aftermarket’s will save a lot of money, and they’re not any worse. now if you want to be spirited they may not last as long but i threw $20 napa struts+bumps in and she felt just fine. it’s not a crazy vital part

it’s 2024, i’m rebuilding my semi wrecked “hit and run” (someone caused the accident without impact and left) victim e46 in my apartment driveway, the very last thing was a tiny connector that i could not see the port for, but your diagram told me there was one there (backside right intake, 02 sensor connector)
nah mine had a hairline crack i finally found. they all get those after a couple years worth of heat cycles. if “work fine” means leaking half a quart of oil onto my headers over a couple weeks then yea mine works just fine
your comment was confusingly worded but regardless, it’s not anecdotal experience if numerous folks have an issue with a common problem from an old platform. this is a known issue with all plastic valve covers from almost all brands. lots of things should be kept oem on the beamers, like pcv and vanos etc etc. but these majority of the time when installed correctly are flawless.

i’m a professional mechanic and never in my entire diagnostic career have i taken apart an oil filter or looked closer than a glance for metal in the pan. it’s super easy to see if you’ve got chunks big enough to matter, and if it’s in the filter it obviously did its job😂
why is everyone commenting freaking out. yes neglected car but i see no ripped line, the fluid appears to be water, and the caliper is just dirty. probably a bushing or some shit making noise over bumps, or something elsewhere… this pic doesn’t do a lot anyway, but y’all seem like for sure keyboard mechanics lol take it to a mavis or some shit and get a free or cheap ass inspection, they’ll tell you
been doing it for months and months. they’ve got 7q capacities so long as you check every couple days/weeks depending on the leak you’ll be good. will be doing mine soon tho, had an accident (not my fault) and shattered my oil pan and steering rack… bouta just fix a bunch of shit with it, since i’m doing it myself

the long and the short bro is that most parts are made by third party companies all around. bmws use american transmission, bosch electronics, etc etc. subaru is one in the same im terms of shared branding. they won’t usually put a subaru sticker on another part
