Thereâs a LFL outside a government building where I live and it doesnât seem like itâs curated at all, it just exists. Once a month, I drop off books and take 20 minutes to clean out the junk like you described. I hate throwing away books but it doesnât feel like anyone else is doing it.
I am a therapist and see a few clients who are lower income and do not have transportation to an office on a day I do not work my full time job, and I typically take them to a park that has a LFL. One of them loves to read and we typically stop at it, usually it has a good assortment of child and adult books and a lot have a stamp from the local library, we were there once when a librarian was dropping them off and said they needed room for some new books coming in :) there are always homemade bookmarks that have positive affirmations too.
