  1. For me, it came down to the reticles. NF just doesn't have any reticles I like for my use, but Vortex does. I got the Razor Gen2 and then later the Gen3 and have been very happy.

  2. I honestly forget what size I used to replace some of the lines in my XJ, but I recommend the silicone lines. Flexible and near impossible to crack and break.

  3. Ty, what brand did you use? I might just buy a variety pack

  4. I honestly don't recall the brand, the lines were blue and it was from Amazon.

  5. I have to have a NRA membership to be part of an awesome range a few miles from my home. However, what I do is buy five year memberships as it's less money to the NRA (per year) and you get a free gift of your choice. Yes it's money to NRA, but a win in the end if you ask me.

  6. The stock seems flimsy, not too familiar with exchanging stocks

  7. How do you plan to use this rifle? Is this a hunting only rifle, or do you plan to shoot precision? How far are you shooting, how far do you want to shoot? Planning to do competitions? Need context.

  8. How long is your barrel? A long barrel is going to make it even harder to make 308Win subsonic loads.

  9. Yeah that's gonna be tough. I'd suggest you just get a 300BLK rifle instead, but I get you're likely asking about subsonic 308 because you can't or don't want to buy another rifle.

  10. Question since i’m new to long range and most of the stuff ive shot was either gas guns or old R700s, do a lot of these .308 rifles use standard AR10 style mags? These mags i keep seeing for them all look standard and I‘ve always been curious

  11. The Ruger Precision Rifle can use AR10/SR25 Mags AND AI/AW mags.

  12. 1/8 Twist. Longer and thicker the barrel the better (for precision shooting), but generally a 24" is most common from factory offerings.

  13. Not sure what your ballistics are going to be, but for a match only out to 500 you might be able to just use the reticle for your elevation and hold for wind.

  14. Rifle primers have thicker cups than pistol primers. It's ok to swap rifle primers in for pistol when your firearms for that cartridge are able to successfully fire off rounds with rifle primers. I'd say make a few for each of your firearms and try it out before committing. For instance, during COVID lockdowns I was using rifle primers in my 9mm. All my pistols successfully fired them off and it was safe. However, I only got light primer strikes with my Kriss Vector.

  15. I've never found any of the books helpful. I watched several Youtube videos on the subject and followed what made sense and over time refined it to a process that works for me.

  16. Either PRC will easily do the job. 300 Norma puts you up into the Lapua Mag bolt face size, so less options if you want to switch cartridges in the future.

  17. Just because the velocities on the box are overstated doesn't mean the ammo itself is shit. Rule of thumb in these parts is you always confirm velocity with a chronograph. I've found the Hornady 7 PRC to be pretty fantastic in my rifle.

  18. If you shoot that target, the bullet is going to go through all of those layers, you're not going to see the white.

  19. You assume too much. You have no idea the amount of people that are estranged from their children. You should be asking THEM who will be their pallbearers.

  20. This is one reason I am glad I never had a mentor to teach me how to shoot. I think that if I had had a mentor he might have sold me into some of these fudd methods and I wouldn't have been the wiser as opposed to working things out on my own and using my critical thinking skills to come up with my own methods.

  21. Just in case anyone doesn't know, song is a parody of the musical "Rent"

  22. IIRC, there already was an injunction for members of FPC and GOA, I read this as extending that to NRA members too. (different lawsuit so different ruling?)

  23. Considering the price and the many problems Guntubers have revealed about the H9, I'd say the H9 is a hard pass.

  24. Well depends, how was it modified? I have an original MAS 36 and load for it easy, not much to it.

  25. Shortened barrel, cut down forend, new front sight, and added safety. I removed the safety. It was a bent sheet metal piece that blocked the trigger.

  26. Proceed as usual. There's nothing special about the cartridge that makes it "tricky" or anything.

  27. Yeah Jeep sucks because it's not geared right for the size tires. 4.11 are perfect for 33s, so I think 4.56 is what you should go with. IIRC, an axle may have a max gear range it can go to due to the size of the pinion and rings that have to fit inside them. Do the research first to ensure stuff will fit and work before buying anything.

  28. This garmin is wonderful. Not only do I feel more confident in my muzzle velocity than ever before, I'm also able to pull velocity when I traditionally would not and am learning things about my ammo I hadn't noticed because of that.

  29. Sometimes, especially for ELR, our rounds are so long that they don't fit into a magazine and we will need to single feed. This is more likely the case if you're shooting with copper monolithic projectiles.

  30. How does that work exactly? Like the receiver/chamber is able to hold and safely fire but the rounds are "not technically made for that rifle"? or am I massively miss understanding?

  31. If a round fits into an action, regardless if it fits into the magazine for that action, it can be fired by that action. The firing of a round happens in the chamber which is part of the barrel, so the action is going to be strong enough to fire rounds that are longer than what can fit in its magazine.

  32. Copper monolithics, not being lead, need to be longer to be in the same weight class as lead based projectiles. Lead is more dense, meaning for the same weight it takes up less space than other materials. This leads to very long Cartridge Overall Length which can sometimes lead to being longer than the magazine.
