  1. Level of talent is not directly proportional to level of fame. OP also really didn't imply one way or the other. I'd say the majority of people in entertainment are just trying to get paid to do something that doesn't suck like the rest of us.

  2. There’s nothing wrong with mini-series. Sometimes a story can told with a 2 hour movie, a 200 episodes series or a 10-part mini. It’s about quality, never quantity

  3. Yeah I think the OP kinda misused the word miniseries anyway. But yeah, I have found miniseries to be a pretty safe bet on quality. There is also no risk of cancellation, the series going into development hell, or even just waiting the minimum 1 year gap (if lucky) for the new season to come out

  4. It’s still good! Lost was 20 years ago! The others are old too.

  5. And the thing is, it's really not hard to find them. All you have to do is take 5 minutes to Google Top 5 shows out right now, or top 5 shows in the last 5 years that are complete, etc..if nothing comes up, like with anything else, put "reddit" in the search criteria and it will. The problem is (and I do it too sometimes) is people open the app to "find something to watch" and yeah, it's 90% filler or garbage with a lot of services.

  6. If you love them and feel safe enough with them to invite them over you probably ought to be comfortable trying to guide (or confront) them if their politics are that atrocious. If the loved ones of hateful dangerous people can't reach them, who can?

  7. How about just let people enjoy their families without trying to convert them, whichever side of the spectrum you are on? It never works and only results in arguments and resentment. Except in the cases where opposite sides can discourse peacefully, in which case 99% of the time there is still no real point in having the conversation because no one is gonna convert anyone else. I really dislike comments like these because you are trying to guilt people into proselytizing their own families, which is just gonna make them unpopular at family events.

  8. But that’s the Reddit way! Cut ties with your loved ones if they are conservative and eat the rich!

  9. Yep, it's ridiculous. And by basically evangelizing to everyone they are actually achieving more division which is the opposite of their stated goal

  10. You forgot to add all of the resident evil movies. They strayed so far from the source material in the worst way. It would be like if the remade the Harry Potter movies without Harry Potter and kept the title.

  11. Why do y'all hate Texans? I live in Bentonville/Bella Vista area here and people here don't hate Texans.

  12. How about stay the fuck out, we don’t want anymore libtards around here.

  13. I really love Fayetteville but it’s really not big enough to think about opportunities unfortunately. Only type of jobs we got here are chicken/business and the health industry

  14. Transportation industry. If not in Fayetteville itself, then only a small commute away.

  15. That is possibly the creepiest sentence a 67 year old man could say to a young woman

  16. idk to me that implies you wanna do something with them, or even if you just say that to a male friend, implying you wanna hang out. I'll say something like "what you got planned for the evening" or "got any exciting plans for the evening"

  17. I am not a huge Ron Howard fan, I actually would pay to watch a dubbed version where his narration was just edited out of the show.

  18. I understand wanting to watch it without a part you don't like and to each their own, but the Narrator is really integral to the whole experience and basically one of the main characters imo

  19. He's just typecast, and that could totally be by choice. He does one thing and he does it extremely well. Most times that's considered a success story 🤷‍♂️

  20. Body fluid is a pretty common trigger for us contamination OCD folks. Any fluid from that area, mine or anyone else's just freaks me the fuck out.

  21. Yeah I guess maybe the reason it isn't a defined phobia is the only peeps that have an issue are us with contamination OCD. Yeah it really isn't about germs for me either. Germs used to be part of my OCD, though for the most part aren't now...but the sexual fluids thing has always persisted.

  22. Eh. I can see that. Exposures suck and lacking any real motivation, I understand not wanting to bother. I think my only real warning is to be mindful about it. My OCD was down to what I could deal with, but it got real bad real fast once COVID hit. So tiny things do explode, but if you know how to work through it if/when it does happen, that's good enough imo.

  23. You are definitely right there, as it does tend to get a lot harder to deal with during periods of high stress, like every other obsession. idk, who knows what the future holds. I am probably shortchanging myself by not doing therapy for it, so I'm at least going to keep an open mind about possibly doing it in the future.

  24. Sounds right. Go tell that to every veteran thats proud they served. Dont know about you, but Im proud of my country. Wearing a shirt with its flag shouldnt be a problem, maybe to redditors it is.

  25. He's wearing an American flag "Freedom" shirt in a land that literally had its freedom taken away by America. Fucking. Trashy.

  26. Does under armor really make those shirts? Did they turn into a tacticool brand or something? I bought some shorts from them where the logo was an American flag

  27. For real, I'm not sure whether the OP is pointing toward the trashy shirt or the "Fuck a Bitch" tattoo

  28. The sign of a great story is knowing how it ends and still wanting to see how it gets there.

  29. Tubi is like a love letter to cinema. A streaming service that will cut your movie experience to play ads over and over again..

  30. Tubi's ads are barely there. They warn you when they are coming. Tell you how long they will be. And also there aren't that many ad breaks. Disrespectful? How is free disrespectful?

  31. He deserves more credit for his Dune adaptation than he is generally given.

  32. He doesn't want credit though as he was given no control over the final cut.

  33. Reddit is full of very loud Right wingers, it dominates the platform

  34. In 10+ years on Reddit as a left leaning centrist, this is just not true in my experience. There are conservative pockets yes, and there are always commenters of both persuasions, but Reddit is leftist.

  35. I appreciate the directness in German culture so, so much!

  36. In American culture, nine times out of ten if you say "no" without explanation you are being rude, yes. The implication is that you don't care about whatever is going on with the person asking therefore you offer no additional explanation, and if they are your friend or loved one, you should.

  37. Fully agree, though sometimes adding context as to why this is the answer is necessary. e.g. just hearing "no" and not knowing why can be interpreted by the receiver in many ways, but adding the reason why can clear up a lot of possible friction.

  38. If I ask someone a reasonable favor or request, or even like "do you wanna hangout" and they say "No" with no further explanation, I think you're being a dick yeah. And culturally I think I'm in the right. So I appreciate your post. When being talking about setting boundaries, it is often said "No is a complete sentence". And no, in American culture, it is absolutely not. At least not by itself, like you said. Unless of course you are setting the boundary with the intention of being aggressive or putting the person out or just don't mind someone thinking you are an asshole. In those cases, a lonesome "No" works just fine.

  39. I hear OJ has a heavy social media presence and is prolly a local celebrity. Casey Anthony is supposedly a local celebrity in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. And there will never be a shortage of dickbrained men that will give her attention even though she killed her daughter.

  40. As a guy, I dont think I will ever understand the desire of some people to touch their groin area while relaxing or just in general. I touch it when its itchy or something, but I have never seen anyone who just casually "rummages" there.
