  1. Musk isn't stupid. He's a piece of shit but he isn't stupid. He must have permission in writing for him to have done that.

  2. Din teori är alltså, om sexhandel är lagligt skulle en stor del av arbetskraften i landet läggas på sexhandel, men främst den kvinnliga. Och frågeställningen är om det skulle vara negativt för samhällsekonomin och jämlikheten?

  3. My wife mentioned this. Break down the cost of insurance, taxes, Maintenace. Also point out that the house we're buying now is also at an inflated price. Do a thorough breakdown. I didn't do any of that and just said no. Maybe if I had done it the way my wife suggested, they'd leave me alone. Or at least the family would see my side. I just feel they are not being rational, they're just looking for money so I stonewalled them. Hasn't deterred them so far

  4. If the house would have flooded, crumbled into dust or burnt down, would your siblings have returned the money you paid them? I think not. So if they wouldn’t have cared about a decrease, why would they feel they deserve something from an increase in value.

  5. Homosexuality is illegal in Bangladesh, they’ve been heavily criticised for failing to protect rape victims, and there’s been high cases of domestic violence. And that’s what I know from the news alone. Try again with another country.

  6. He knew the risk, he may nor have put the keys in his hand but he may as well have.

  7. If you have friends that always drive faster than speed limits, are you morally obliged to throw away their car keys so they don’t cause accidents?

  12. So what do you see happening with the votes? Is that just so a physically weak majority can get rid of someone particularly horrible? Because assuming someone has been going wild w killings then I expect they’d always be voted out.

  13. nice! that's the point of the votes. If you kill too many people, you will get voted out, so you will have to keep a low profile if you want to kill.

  14. How does the voting happen since there’s no devices? At the time everyone is in their rooms?

  18. How is this any different from someone wanting to be cuddled after sex? It's a non sexual thing that brings back feelings of being connected and cared for.

  19. I’m not sure if I’m the weird one here, but there’s definitely a big difference between how I cuddle a sexual partner, a parent and a friend.

  20. I didn't say it was "common", I said that I personally have experience with it, so therefore it is fathomable.

  21. Read it, and I'm not a huge fan. I like my horror a bit more subtle, and the characters - no exceptions - annoyed the crap out of me. Thanks for the rec either way!

  22. On the off chances that our tastes align on more than not particularly enjoying The Ruins, (because I’d describe that book exactly like you did), I’d rec The Sparrow. The caveat is that it’s not traditional horror at all. And it’s scifi, so maybe save it for later. But I read it and was horrified several times over, and it stayed with me as sheer wtf for several days afterwards.

  23. Scifi, horror, fantasy - I read it all in equal measures. Is it the one by Mary Doria Russell? It's the first one that pops up on Goodreads.

  24. Yeah that’s the one. I hear the sequel isn’t very good so I’ve not tried that one.

  25. I don’t really understand the 80% of biodiversity claim. Any links or anything to back it up? I found a national geographic page but the link to that claim was broke.

  26. Reading their comments I’m kinda wondering if they’re the sort of person who’d say that (for example) Chinese people can’t be racist because they’re Asian. Or that gay men can’t be misogynistic. Or that black peoples can’t be homophobic. Because they seem very accepting of stupid things done by minority groups, in the name of culture. And culture is such a crappy argument to anything. If there’s validity in cultural practice you can defend it without just saying “mah culture!”

  27. Soooo do you happen to not be the same sex as your siblings? Because I’ve seen this loads of times when parents expect that their girls should cater to their boys. Regardless your parents are arseholes and you’re NTA. They’d just be sexist arseholes as well if they have indeed decided that cooking is a gendered task.

  28. He wouldn't even help by guarding the door! I hope, when he's in a bad situation, he gets the same level of support as he allowed for his brother.

  29. I can see why, during a wedding, OP didn’t want to be the person trapped in a stinky bathroom and having to be the person telling (likely) drunk people that no they can’t use the bathroom right now.

  30. Depends, it can’t have been just the one toilet bathroom, or else he would have locked the door. The last biggish party I went to, around 100 people, only had the one shared bathroom, but it was huge with a lot of stalls.

  31. Yeah the crush stuff was weird, Malcolm being a spy was something I guess. Also the whole thing of Lyra being a condescending and elitist academic, acting like it’s silly to believe in ‘magic’ was very strange considering all her experiences in the original trilogy’s

  32. Yeah it felt like way too big of a personality change. Sure, time’s passed but this feels like if her mum in the first trilogy would have gone from the villain she started out as and ended up like Molly Weasley or something. I guess a better comparison would be Daenarys in the last GoT season. As a reader (or viewer) you just get emotional whiplash.

  33. Absolutely agree! Also her reading a book about someone killing god was far too on the nose…

  34. I guess the next book will show if Pullman has lost the plot or if this was him setting up the pieces for some sort of payoff. Reading the first trilogy, even though I was younger at the time, I never felt like they were written by an old white dude. This book tho, tbh it reeked of old white dude. I hope Lyra isn’t coming off as weird because he can’t write an adult female lead. Because some writers can’t. I was super disappointed reading Andy Weir’s Artemis for that same reason, huge drop in quality compared to the Martian or Project Hail Mary (edit to correct book name because I’m not awake apparently)

  35. With all due respect, humans are the most invasive species. Yet we think we belong everywhere.

  36. Is your point that humans ought to be killed or is your point that the invasive species we’ve introduced aren’t as bad as us so we need to leave them alone?

  37. I definitely am not condoning hurting anything. I just think it’s funny how we label other organisms as invasive, yet our species has degraded Earth’s biosphere and disrupted ecosystems more than all other species combined.

  38. It’s not like those things are mutually exclusive.

  39. well you're not going to believe it... but the Andree Artic expedition that did no testing, had no training, or even had adequate survival supplies on hand, ended up dying almost immediately. I know, I know, it's so hard to comprehend how could this happen

  40. I think they ought to get comparatively more credit. They were at least trying to achieve something new, subs have already been down to the titanic wreck.

  41. I would recommend that you play it. It sets up Inquisition and it is also genuinely really good. It's the game that has grown in me the most. Origins was amazing and I loved it from the first moment, I still do.

  42. If we revive a person after they flatline are they a zombie? Seems a pointless distinction to make and if you want to criticize Christianity there are a lot better arguments to make.

  43. Jesus also asked people to eat his body and drink his blood so I mean…

  44. NTA. "He who pays the piper, calls the tune".

  45. That seems like a much better deal for the siblings. They get their way and don’t even have to pay?

  46. I was really excited for this book but it was a let down :/ A book I read recently that’s also exploration horror but I enjoyed much more was Dead Silence by SA Barnes. It’s cheesy but actually has scary stuff happening throughout most of the book. Into the Drowning Deep by Mira Grant is also good for about 75% of the book (I hated the ending but it wasn’t a book ruiner for me)

  47. Check out Dark Matter by Michelle Paver and see if it catches your interest.

  48. That’s not what he said here though. He’s not saying that your life improves if you have a partner. He explicitly says that if you’re in a worse mood than usual or if you feel off it’s because your girlfriend/wife did something wrong.

  49. Long time vegan (27 years) and I loathe PETA.

  50. Also vegan and I will give PETA credit for pushing the envelope and making the average vegan seems very reasonable in comparison. They have done some worth while things but it seems like anyone can do something batshit crazy, say they’re PETA and PETA will be like, yup. So yeah. I feel similarly about Greenpeace which also flips between doing great things and batshit things.

  51. i wasn’t exactly saying 27, i should’ve clarified i’m sorry. i was more thinking 18 maximum, which plenty of people have done. but your growth plates fuse at 14-15 for most girls, and 16-17 for most guys. so if they’re short with a babyface that could make them look younger

  52. Yeah but conversely, girls finish most of their growing before 11-12. And I don’t think it’s super common to start earlier for puberty blockers.

  53. most sources say that girls stop growing either 1-2 years after their first menstrual cycle, or at 14-15

  54. Wouldn’t that fit together with them doing most of their growing before 12?
