  1. Ooo a nice bit of playful training, is there anything I can buy for this as I'm a bit of a wuss and don't want to use my precious fingies

  2. for sure! get yourself a nice snake hook, and check out these videos on target training to help you get started:

  3. I've ordered a snake hook from swell reptiles and I'm currently watching videos on snake training and instincts by green room pythons :) and thank you for helping

  4. could definitely be hungry then! maybe a little snack as enrichment? do you have access to frozen chicks?

  5. Yes read my caption, I bring it up to my mom and get told to mind my business and I get called a spoiled brat and told I’m a negative person.

  6. Sorry, reddit's new weird layout blocked it and I didn't see it. Send the pics to animal control, maybe?

  7. I think I will once I move out so I don’t face retaliation. They know I’m the only one who sees the abuse so the only one who would report it

  8. I understand completely. Best of luck, sorry you're stuck in that situation.

  9. If she becomes very upset and stressed when you attempt to feed her, then don't bother. Just give her a nice snuggle and keep her warm and comfy. Really sorry for your struggles.

  10. Thank you for the response! I fed her yesterday, and she kept backing up and trying to get away, so she certainly didn't like it. She never black beards, though.. ugh, I'm so conflicted.

  11. You can always give it a try, and if she doesn't respond well then the choice is yours. If you plan to have her put to sleep anyway, it's best to try and make her last days with you happy and comfortable. I lost my dragon to cancer and it was really difficult giving her medication and slurries when she hated it so much and was already toughing through so much. Do what you feel is best.

  12. If she keeps saying she doesn't want the poor kitten, let her find a new home for it. She won't give that kitten the love it deserves if she doesn't even want it. If the kitten has gone from playful and energetic to skittish and scared, there is a reason for it. Good luck with the poor kitty and your irresponsible roomie.

  13. You're correct, it looks like there's a lot to be improved on; lighting, heating, diet, decor, substrate, etc. Luckily, all the latest in proper dragon care, provided by and sourced from experts, is available on this Youtube channel,

  14. honestly you'll need to go bigger, most corn snakes get 4-5+ feet long and your enclosure needs to be at least as long as your snake is so they can stretch out (:

  15. I did see it, just watched it this morning in fact.

  16. He said that bell peppers are good as a gutloader for feeder insects, but shouldn't be fed directly to the dragon because of the high sugar content, similar to carrots (: No problem! here's a graphic from him if it's helpful to your update:

  17. Strange to see iceburg on the graphic. I guess it's good hydration but otherwise has no nutritional value

  18. I thought it was strange as well, but I guess it's just crunchy water in the end.

  19. get a small bag to start. I got a huge bag from my gecko's breeder and he hates the flavor lol.

  20. Try to get low VOC paint and shut all the doors you can leading to your dragon. If you can smell the paint in your room even then, it's not safe for your beardie, and I would definitely board/have them stay with a friend (:

  21. Looks like the beginnings of vitamin A deficiency. Where did you get her from? Have you been giving her supplements?

  22. I got her from a Swedish breeder passing by for a reptile/terrarium convention (not sure if it's the right name, English isn't my first language). I've been holding off on feeding her until she got used to her new home, so she has only eaten once but without any supplements. I do have some supplements which I think have vitamin A. I should also mention that she's co-habbing with a male older than her which I know is bad. My dad bought her before consulting me and the seller and another woman that breeds geckos there said it would be fine though I don't really trust it. As of now we do have an empty terrarium but we don't really have any space to put it

  23. Lots going on here! It's good not to handle for about a week or two after adoption, but they need to be fed regularly, especially if your gecko is not an adult yet. Under 1 year should be fed every other day, over 1 year can be fed every 2 days, over 2 years about twice a week. HOWEVER, it isn't unusual for a new critter to not want to eat right away as they settle in. But always try to offer!

  24. when you touch it, does it feel like just her beard feathers or is there like a fleshy/hard mass?

  25. Cold Hookclaws. Barely used any other weapon! Omenkiller cleaver as well, for bleed but also could use incants and greases on that one. Love a bleed build.

  26. I’ve offered him greens, not too many options right yet since I have to travel for most of them. So far he’s been offered fresh green beans (made smaller) and mustard greens. I did try to give him a little bit of banana too, which I usually avoid due to the sugar. He tried the green beans but ignored the rest.

  27. definitely don't get in the habit of giving fruit, that will only cause problems. do you know where that pet store sources their animals from?

  28. Very unusual. Have you offered any greens? Where did you get him from? Do you have a pic of him and the enclosure?

  29. Yea that's what I was afraid of right after posting haha, sorry about that! Yea right now she has an arcadia 6% proT5 UVB that's on during the day. I don't typically see her until I've long turned off the lights for my other diurnal lizard, so I just worry she isn't getting what she needs while she's in her hide and the light is on. I also can't say if this is just a simple temperature issue because she's quite feisty and active for the 1-2 hours she likes to come out between 8-10PM, but I'll double check her basking and cool sides.

  30. no need to be sorry, can't know for sure unless you ask! she may be basking while you are away, you never know (unless you set up a little camera).

  31. UVB light is just that- light. No such thing as lightless UVB. If you're worried about her D3 levels and such, you could always bring her to the vet to have bloodwork done. Do you give her regular UVB light during the day? They will cryptically bask on their own accord (:

  32. Impaction only occurs when husbandry is incorrect, namely temperatures and hydration. Reptiles need proper temperatures to digest their food. What are you currently using for heat, and what are your temps at? (:

  33. She is one of my many go-to people for care info. No one is 100% perfect in a hobby where we are constantly improving and learning. (:

  34. Incorrect, incorrect! The amount of contradictory advice in this subreddit will make your head spin. The 10.0 T8 bulbs ARE more appropriate for bearded dragons. This is a fact. Please do your research before responding.

  35. I would love to see your source saying that T8 bulbs are more appropriate for dragons over T5 bulbs. T8 bulbs can be used in some situations, but it makes more financial sense to use a T5. They generally last longer, or at least their recommended replacement date is 6 months compared to the 12 months of a T5. If you have a solar meter 6.5/6.5r you’ll be able to tell more efficiently when they need replacing. My info is sourced from the Reptile Lighting FB group, run by experts in the field, as well as Liam Sinclair and Dr. Jon Howard.

  36. Hi, I’ve rehabbed obese geckos before! It is a long process, but it’s important to not starve them or do anything drastic because it can cause liver failure. Here’s what I generally do:

  37. This info is perfect. Thank you so much. Looking for a 40 gallon as we speak.
