  1. I'm not going to hold my breath waiting for that "potential future bike lane". We'll get a roof on Mosaic stadium before the bike lane happens...

  2. What’s it like kayaking out there? Was thinking of trying it

  3. It's great! I'd much prefer to be somewhere remote and out of town, but you cannot beat the location. Takes about 45-60 minutes to do a lap of the west lake, deepening on how much floating and rubber-necking you do. You can load up your boat, go do a leisurely lap, get home and unload your boat inside of 90 minutes. It's so accessible, it's mind boggling. That's really what draws me. There's lots of people around, too, so I don't mind going alone from the safety side of things. Even going to Condie I would rather have a companion with me in case I capsize. On Wascana there's people all around, should you need assistance. Of course, always wear your PFD regardless of where you paddle.

  4. Put away your pitchforks, here's a picture of what was inside:

  5. My spouse had to see an allergist a couple years ago. If memory serves, there was only one and they were in Saskatoon. Obviously that could have changed since then, but that was the case not too long ago.

  6. I did it myself on our Grand Caravan. Ordered a Curt hitch on Costco for a really good price with free shipping. The only thing I'd do differently if I had to do it again is ask for help. It doesn't have to be skilled help, just an extra set of hands to help lift and hold it in place. It can be done solo, but I used a lot of 4 letter words and it took a bit of extra time wrestling it into place on my own.

  7. I'm thinking about doing something similar on my 2023 FX3. When I get up to the 10km mark I'm noticing some tingling and discomfort in my wrists/fingers. I have another bike with swept bars that doesn't do this to me.

  8. I found a 2017 Yuba SC for under $1000 but the battery is dead and they said there are no new comparable batteries for them now. How do I update it? I'd love to get it at that price but haven't a clue how to upgrade/update it. Im in Portland, OR

  9. The easy thing to do would be to buy the old style battery, instead of updating/upgrading. Should be a drop-in replacement. The battery on the 2017 is the Bosch Powerpack 400. They also make a 500, which I believe is the exact same casing, but with a few extra cells for more range. Obviously that'll cost more than the 400, but it's an option.

  10. It has a Currie Electro Drive motor & battery

  11. Ohhhh, I'm pretty sure the one with the Currie is from before 2017. I had to look up which model I had, and according to this review (

  12. That shouldn't be an issue. Your problem only exists in your mind, because you assume the bus you're transferring to will be on-time.

  13. I actually have no idea what they look like, but I’ve taken to calling whoever keeps writing health and government conspiracies around the Wascana walking area the “Sidewalk Chalk Cock”

  14. Pretty sure that's the woman who took all the shoes off of the steps of the Leg to commemorate the unmarked graves at residential schools. I've just internally referred to her as "crazy chalk lady". It's not very catchy or original, it's just the placeholder in my head.

  15. Here's a reminder of what those assholes look like... is this the same lady?

  16. It's my understanding that it's the same lady, but I am not 100% sure. The other dude in that article is similarly troubled, but without the penchant for chalk manifestos.

  17. I have that exact table saw, inherited it from my dad. I like it a bunch. Would I like something better? Absolutely. Is it working just fine for me now? Absolutely.

  18. I will die on the hill that I think Costco offers the best 'standard' poutine in the city. Any time I've gotten a poutine at Coney Island it's a sloppy unappealing mess that's so wet you're almost better off eating it with a straw. Then you have to wash it down with tums afterwards. Are there better poutines in the city that I haven't had? Probably. But if you're going to put Coney Island against Costco, I'll pick Costco until the cows come home. Coney Island is just poutine theatre.

  19. It's the truth though, they just forgot the first line when they titled the budget. The first part that didn't make the document was "things we're going to fuck over:"

  20. Does bear spray not work on cockroaches?

  21. I bought a saddle for my MTB at Block's closing out sale. It was a dark and dingy hole. I miss that dark dingy hole.

  22. 15th between Albert and Elphinstone can definitely use a speed reduction. Biking westbound you need to just use the entire lane. Despite the lane being as narrow as it is, they still pile snow on that side, so the lane ends up being narrower than a car. I end up avoiding that stretch. Because of the one way roads between Albert and Broad you pretty much have to use 15th when going west from Al Ritchie or the busier 13th.

  23. In the summer I often bike West through Cathedral to the lawn bowling greens. I had originally thought 15th or 14th would be the calmest and most logical route on bike. After a few trips, I now ride down Vic Avenue from Albert to the greens. The roads weren't terribly busy at the time I was riding, but when cars did come, Holy shit you were trapped and had no place to go. It was the most claustrophobic I've felt on a bike. Vic felt much more safe, even though the traffic was a bit higher and there was a risk of getting doored by someone parked. I fully and wholly welcome a slower speed in that community.

  24. The real reason to take it off and bring the battery in is to deny thieves the full kit. If you’re not worried about that, do whatever’s most convenient.

  25. I have a detached garage where I keep my bike. The battery comes inside everytime I'm done riding. If someone is going to steal my ride, I'm going to deny them the full package and the convenience of being able to easily ride away. They'll have to work to ride it (75lb 7' long cargo bike). The #2 reason is cold weather. I live in Canada. My garage is insulated but not heated. It can get pretty chilly in there in the winter time, not ideal for batteries of all shapes and sizes. I also bring my power tool and yard equipment batteries inside in the fall for the same reason.

  26. You could try Windsor plywood, they've got a decent selection of specialized hardware

  27. When I was buying my boat, I was in this exact situation with these two boats. I wanted the pungo to save a few bucks, but I found the Loon more comfortable, and I preferred the dashboard on the Loon. In the end I chose the Loon, and that was almost exclusively based on comfort. I figured if I was going to spend that kind of money on a boat, it had better be something I enjoyed sitting inside. I liked the pungo, but I liked the Loon a bit more, so I went that route.

  28. Uber is surprisingly effective. We did a multi day camping trip, where the end destination was in a major city that none of us lived in. My trip mates had family living in the city and we stashed our car there. When we finally arrived at our take out point, we called an Uber to go collect cars. We left someone behind to watch boats and gear, then drove back to collect everything and everyone.

  29. Get a harbor freight bed extender and use quality straps. I haul big stupid shit on an open trailer every day. As long as is secured right you’ll be fine

  30. This is the way. I've got a 6 foot bed as well. I got a cheap Princess Auto (Canadian harbour freight, effectively) bed extender for $60 and I use that almost exclusively to haul my 12'6" boat. It's so nice not having to lift my 75lb boat over my head to get it on the vehicle. It absolutely makes solo trips a breeze. I've also used the hitch extender on multiple long trips with no issues, including a 6 hour drive.

  31. I've never done it so I can't claim it's an issue, but I'm generally concerned about a dog in an inflatable boat. When a dog gets agitated (barking at a goose or something dumb) they could lunge about and maybe puncture the boat

  32. I've got a Loon 126, not the angler version but it's effectively the same. I love the dash on mine. I keep my camera, keys, sunglasses, anything you want readily accessible and dry. The bottle cage underneath is great, I keep my water down there out of the sun. The cup holder up top is for my coffee mug or a beer. The bottle cage on the underside is the same mounting standard as on bicycles, so you could swap out the bottle cage with any bicycle accessory that mounts to those holes.

  33. Update for people in the future searching for this info: This indeed appears to be part of the Sirius/XM satelite radio system. I used the RP4-CH11 canbus computer from PAC, and that's transferred my steering wheels controls to the new head unit beautifully.

  34. I'm 6'3" and about the same weight. I've got an Old Town Loon 126. I've taken it on a few multi night camping trips, it works a treat. Very comfortable, lots of leg room, and good room for storage above and below deck. Very comfortable, a little bit spendy, but highly recommend
