  1. It’s a solid planer. If it’s in truly like-new condition, I’d say $300 is a very fair price. Just make sure it includes the infeed and outfeed tables and all parts.

  2. As a hiring manager, I’ll talk to an applicant with a high GPA from a flagship state school any day. They’ve been some of my best hires. My bottom three worst hires were Ivy League.

  3. I think you’re asking for permission for something that’s not quite there yet. Telling us you can get a HELOC if there’s an emergency suggests you don’t have the fundamentals nailed down. Read the prime directive and reorient.

  4. OP, I applaud your honesty. I wish I could give this multiple upvotes.

  5. Some state AG offices handle consumer affairs and can be helpful in situations like this. I can’t say if this is the right move for this particular case but it’s not unreasonable to raise the question.

  6. I might try hitting it with a card scraper under light pressure. A sharp carbide scraper might do it too. You should be able to get the surface smooth, and probably want to to facilitate easier cleaning.

  7. If the FIL lives in NH, have him buy and keep the gun?

  8. father-in-law could buy the gun as a gift, but can't really give it to OP without going through a FFL. otherwise it's just his gun that OP can use when visiting. the other thing OP could do is buy the legal-in-to-possess-in-Massachusetts gun and then take it to New Hampshire and give it the features it can't have in MA but can have in NH. then put the gun back in the MA-legal config when bringing it home.

  9. Right, your otherwise is what I meant for OP. If FIL is looking for someone to shoot with in NH, my suggestion is to just have him buy the gun to keep and use up there.

  10. Just looked at the rifle. So I took it apart and put the roller back in the OP rod. After reassembly I racked the OP rod back and with my hand i was able to pull the OP rod away from the rifle itself and saw the roller on the bolt come out to recreate the issue to begin with. Weird.

  11. Yeah, either the op rod tab or the track is out of spec or damaged. I suppose it's possible that the tab/track could have worn out prematurely if your buddy kept the rifle bone dry and fired a ton of rounds through it, but that seems unlikely. Definitely contact SAI.

  12. That shouldn’t happen. Check that the op rod isn’t cracked or bent and also check that it registers securely in the track on the receiver. I’m guessing that it’s popping out of the track. If this is a newer rifle, contact Springfield Armory. EDIT: I should have added that no one should be shooting this gun until this gets sorted out. If the bolt isn’t properly supported by the charging handle, that’s a dangerous situation.

  13. With the possible exception of buying in a new build development, constructing your own home is almost always more expensive than buying an existing house of similar size, and often much more expensive. For one thing, the financing is more complicated and the rates are significantly higher than a traditional mortgage.

  14. If saving the wood countertop is a high priority for you, you would remove the faucet and back moulding. Sand down to bear wood. Impregnate and fill the gaps with epoxy primer, then revarnish. It’s unlikely that you’ll get all the water stains out of the oak, especially in the end grain, but that’s how I’d approach it if saving was an absolute must.

  15. Looks like it’s in great condition. What room did you find that in?

  16. Mid-June is a nice time, at least closer into Boston. All the college graduations are over and the summer tourism season hasn’t fully ramped up yet.

  17. If that’s a climbing rose, a trellis or something to support it would make sense?

  18. It looks like you only need to do some repointing. That’s standard maintenance on brickwork.

  19. This is just me of course but I’d go for the van. Sometimes a change of pace is good and the van looks fun and different.

  20. How hard it is to grow grass in your yard? I’d consider just leaving it as open yard and focus on the perimeter and making that as appealing as possible.

  21. Only thing stopping me is its a 4". Might be in my head but is shooting 357 still good at 4"?

  22. Without markings, there’s effectively no way to verify that they are pre-ban. Not sure I’d risk a potential felony just based on someone’s word.

  23. The personal finance wiki also has a section on windfalls.

  24. You’ve already gotten good advice on taking the locks out for internal cleaning. As for the copper finish, I would precede carefully. That is likely to be copper plate on steel or some type of pot metal. In my experience, copper plating is not very durable and it will come off if you polish too aggressively.

  25. Thank you, I'm coming to the same conclusion. What about a gentle cleaner instead? Any products you might recommend? How about a gentle brass brushing?

  26. I'd start with regular dish soap and a tooth brush to just get all the grim off.

  27. Why the fuck would the most notorious of shitty-takes British tabloids be a trusted source here?

  28. They may have used cement board because it’s a bathroom.

  29. The DIA is one of the most underrated art museums in the country. Go.
