Not much has changed in that regard. Buy on IBKR (via IEX), then DRS transfer to ComputerShare. That will create an account with CS, then you can in the future buy directly on CS (with WISE USD bank account) or repeat buying on IBKR (via IEX) and DRS transfer to CS.
Buying through IEX is optional but gives bonus points. Thing is you need their (super complex) desktop client software to do it. If you "only" use the web interface you can't select the exchange you want to route your order to. I've done it once
