  1. This is not a game that is meant to be mechanically mastered in the same way you could do in Dishonored or Metal Gear. There's no easy path once you get good (well there's ways to completely break the game but this is not easy to see at first playthrough and not the intended experience to play anyway). The point is that looting should be a high risk high reward mechanic.

  2. People in here are very harsh on anyone who dares to fire people instead of going completely bankrupt without any benefits left for fired employees. It's mega weird. Sure, it's sad as hell, but people here sometimes look like they never worked in their lives, as they seem to be completely clueless about what is really going on in some cases.

  3. People who think that companies fire people only when there's no other option viable seem to be really clueless about how corporations work

  4. People who think that companies will prioritize casual citizens before their own interests are really clueless about how corporations work.

  5. What you said makes little sense unless your intention is to claim I'm right and you were wrong. You're just repeating the same point I used with different words.

  6. One of the original ideas for P5 was to make it a journey around the world, so it does seem to be revisiting some ideas from that version of P5 (Though due to it being a new IP I'm sure there's plenty of differences from that hypothetical version of the game as well.)

  7. Now it makes sense why one of the palaces is in Egypt and one in a cruise

  8. I'd say the total lack of most features on Xbox is what killed it. Microsoft spent many E3 hyping up features that never worked outside US, UK or at best Canada. Utterly stupid...

  9. Dude, French people speak terrible English or no English at all.

  10. I mean, from a French historical perspective it’s the British who refused to speak French and kept with their Saxon thing rather than “proper Norman”. French was the language of diplomacy until recently for them it’s a matter of pride like the empire was for the British who refuse to accept they’re an island a few km away from the continent rather than a global superpower.

  11. So basically you do a rough sketch and if you want to make a whole pose out of it you add more details after?

  12. https://conceptartempire.com/tips-for-gesture-drawing/

  13. If you're not a native russian speaker I assume it's a bit different. I have vivid recollections of a lot of Kurosawa and Tarkosvky scenes. Dune 2 as well, though not because they're very good. The cinematography for Dune was alright but it was overshadowed by the extremely bad dialogue, weak plot, and the marvel-tier jokes.

  14. I'm allergic to marvel humor but tbh I didn't see much of it, at least not to create a negative reaction. The cinematography is subpar compared to Part 1, I agree

  15. 5 times the same joke "AS WRITTEN!! LISAN AL GHAIB!!", the random slap in the face as she revives him from the dead, just random shit. dune 2 is on practically all fronts about the same level as a marvel movie. but for some reason it's being praised to the standards of a cinematic jewel. i don't understand this.

  16. It's not near as bad as a marvel movie. I'm saying that as someone who literally had to stop watching some Marvel movies because I was dying of cringe, I can barely hatewatch them so I don't even try now.

  17. That was an interesting reaction because she seems to find the Kwisatz Haderach (the male Gesserith) unnatural or unsettling despite the fact that her order supposedly wanted to create one.

  18. Nice use of color and framing I like it. For some reason I can imagine this as a Pompeyan fresco in a rich summer villa.

  19. Having played Pentiment I thought the game added diversity in a realistic way. There is Vácslav (a Romani traveler who lives in the woods and does odd jobs) and Brother Sebhat (a visiting priest from the Ethiopian church in Rome). Besides that, everyone was white, which makes total sense given the game is set in a small town in 16th-century Bavaria in the Holy Roman Empire.

  20. I love Pentiment, but tbh I think they missed the mark with the Roma guy (is gypsy a pejorative word in English? I'm not native).

  21. You're right, I remembered that he had heretical ideas but I forgot what they were. I think he was kinda like Spinoza in which he was philosophical/theological rather than interested in alchemy/occultism. Didn't talk much with him that's true.

  22. will kabru die to never return again?

  23. Glad I'm not the only one who dislikes the guy. Not enough to wish him dead but he's a shady and two faced pretty boy

  24. Laios: "I'm not trapped with you, you're trapped with my monster autism"

  25. Tbf F&H1/T have no right to be as good as they are, given the subject matter, I can only imagine how unhinged the fanbase must be.

  26. It's honestly pretty wholesome from what I've seen on reddit and twitter. I have a theory that many disturbing content fandoms are pretty chill, while many comfy content fandoms are horrible

  27. Yeah, I’ve recently played the games and dabbled in the sub and it’s surprisingly all useful advice and light hearted shipping/memes. It’s probably the most pleasant game specific community I’ve ever seen, lol.

  28. The only two gaming communities I've followed on reddit are Funger and Pathologic. Both are challenging bleak games with surprisingly wholesome fandoms

  29. He literally addresses this exact point - the viewer will never know the reality, and that's okay. He shows on screen about 8 cuts of him reading the same line and how he has to pick the most personable one for the final edit because that's what pays his rent.

  30. No, I know plenty of video essayers who don't do that to the same degree as him. Being self aware and confessing in a video that most of his audience won't see is not an excuse, but probably more of a way to deflect criticism.

  31. The issue is not that he's not him. Of course he isn't, this is his job. A comedian will pretend when working on a bad day.

  32. SLS launch costs are estimated at 2 billion USD per launch excluding development costs. The JWST was launched on the Ariane 5 for a cost of 400m (announced price in 2007, not sure if the budget slipped on that). Sure, 4% is a fraction, but its a significant fraction. Remember that it was budgeted at 1b, so 40% of the budget to launch. One of the things pushing up the price and extending development time for the telescopes is also the cost of launches. You want to fit as much as you can on that rocket, and you need everything tested extremely well on the ground since building another one and launching that isn't an option.

  33. I have a good question for you. Why the hell do people focuse so much on rocket launching when as you yourself said it represents a fraction of the budget in the industry.

  34. Putting things into space is valuable. Putting things into space is expensive. Making things cheaper to put into space is good.

  35. Not a really convincing answer honestly. I think you can probably see why

  36. So much misinformation with snippets of truth.

  37. The situation that you described exists in many European countries to a considerable degree. It happens in my country, Spain. I personally know people who live or lived as undocumented, either entering with tourist visa (common for Latinos) or crossing the Mediterranean illegally in small boats (common for many Moroccans and Senegalese). Let me tell you, reaching Spain from Senegal is a literal Odyssey. I know the story of a guy who traveled for years under deplorable circumstances to reach the Canary Islands. And even then your situation is very unstable. Now he's in the peninsula but the wife and children are still in Senegal.

  38. The true answer is that the US system wants undocumented immigrants in their country. They're vulnerable people that work for cheap and have barely rights. Work for peanuts and get deported if the government thinks you're no longer useful. Plus, they're scapegoats for right wing politicians like Trump. They're a win win for the American establishment.

  39. That’s not true at all. 70% AAA/AA games are linear, just look at the 2024 slate: Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, (TLOU 2 Remastered), Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden, Robocop, (Brothers A Tale of Two Sons Remake), Hellblade 2, Princess Peach: Showtime, Stellar Blade, Paper Mario, Black: Myth Wukong, Avowed, The Casting of Frank Stone, Lost Records: Bloom and Rage, Judas (if it releases in 2024), Little Nightmares 3, etc. To just name a handful without indies or games from smaller devs (since those are rarely open world).

  40. I think the best linear games are the ones that really branch at some parts, and the best open world games are the ones that offer enough friction to not make the traversal trivial and meaningless. Full direction or full freedom aren't fun. Even the TotK devs talked about that in a recent GDC.

  41. Yeah. I'm not the biggest fan of the Zelda switch games, but I think they nailed the traversal in BotW. Climbing mountains is engaging because when you don't have much stamina you wonder how much can you manage to climb. Same for the horses, they are some of the few in gaming that behave like a real animal rather than a bike. TotK is very cool but makes some of the traversal more trivial because you can jump and drop Fortnite style with the towers. Other elements like weather are cool touches too.

  42. c74 says:

israel has the utmost of restraint in gaza. the populous wants israel and their people destroyed and wiped off the planet. every opportunity the hamas/gazans get they attack to kill and terrorize as many people as possible... and when israel responds, gazans and hamas go back to hamas 101 propaganda saying israel are the aggressor and barbarians. anyone without bias sees this clearly.

  43. I'd say that this is a Hasbara comment but to be honest it looks like it's too over the top for even them.

  44. c74 says:

i think you are a bad actor of corrupt ideology. it is one thing to stick your head in the sand and claim ignorance... another to imply you have at least a small piece of knowledge of what is happening and live in denial. go to a protest for hamas gazians and pretend to protest on their behalf when all you want is dead jews. shame.

  45. Guess those Jews protesting in defense of Gaza also want to see dead Jews?

  46. I think the best baseball pitchers reach 100 miles per hour, and the escape velocity of earth is 23000 mph, so I'd say he had a hell of a fastball

  47. He launched a dude into space? Guy should be in MLB not in gulag

  48. Yep, this one. It's honestly too good. Can't believe how many quotable jokes it has in such a short story

  49. The "I wasn't even in 'Nam" fiber greentext will always be a treasured post in my memory.

  50. My favorite ones I still remember are: "European grandpa becomes a Rwandan genocide denier", "American tourist tips in Europe" and "libertarian cop can't arrest people unless they're ok with it". Those are pure gold

  51. Been waiting to watch this, thank you. Didn't Nintendo present another talk at GDC? Can't remember which

  52. Do you mean this GDC, or in the past? They had a BotW presentation several years ago

  53. GDC 2024. I just googled, they did a talk on super mario wonder, but it doesn't show up on their website unfortunately

  54. Not as cool and powerful as the true main character, the Nahobeeho

  55. Considering that Aogami follows his every command after their "union" I'd say he's the ultimate power bottom

  56. I literally said before that the problem is that they want to add nothing for the consumer it's just a price increase. In fact I wouldn't be against having paid 80 euros for some of the best games I've played in my life, because they provided me more enjoyment. The issue is that increasing prices on everything means both good and bad games are more expensive, it's pure inflation.

  57. Again, you’re begging the question and sharing demonstrably wrong claims.

  58. As I said, you assume the morality relies on the market. How people can assume that it's market what make morality is something kinda incredible.

  59. The only way this will stop is if we don't buy it. You're not going to shame them Into stopping. People act like they're entitled to mtx for a decade old game. It's kinda sad

  60. Oh and why would you be invested in making people "shut up with the bullshit"?

  61. We had to sing this every day (late 70's early 80's):

  62. Change Texas for "The People's Republic of China". Can you see how messed up is to make children sing such national songs?
