They just tend to have no social awareness and create otherwise avoidable dangerous and hazardous conditions that it’s my job to fix. Once you get past that, they’re normally decent people who are just oblivious to their surroundings.

I have a masters, work along side guys and gals with high school diploma. All make the same rate. A degree is good for promotions and getting into special units. That is about it though. Experience and knowing policy is way more valuable.
My base is mid 90k range. I usually clear about 150k a year after overtime but I basically live at work since most of it is forced. Not worth the money after a certain point. I’m lined up to leave in the next year for a lower paid job with way better work-life balance.
Ah yes the 0.002% of the population. And that’s spread across 52 local chapters in 33 states. Majority of which have no actual training, no logistical skills, no comms skills, and no tactical or combat experience. Not even getting started on their health and physical fitness. Billybob on his ride-on mower with a 30.06 could cripple an entire chapter. Add in his cousin/half brother Bo at the speed of a fresh cut lawn and the SRA would be down to 32 states.
A lifetime of hunting and farming, they’ll die eventually obviously. But those trailer parks breed like rabbits and rednecks out number SRA members by magnitudes. If anything were to actually pop off, we’d all be fucked and the rural folk would outpace us all due to experience and access to resources that most urban and suburban communities don’t have.
It makes me happy to see range bags with dedicated medical kit. All too often I see people go shooting with no emergency gear, god forbid something go awry. Good on you OP.

I always lean towards Roth IRAs for retirement funds (that’s what I do since it’s a safer investment), having a six month emergency fund in a high yield savings account (rolling the interest gained into investments if your choice, and paying off all consumer debt to reduce money lost in interest payments. Could also put some contributions into index funds if you want money accessible-ish. Big fan of sinking funds as well for reoccurring larger payments like insurance, holidays, vacations, and of course gun and ammo purchases.
