I play on my Xbox for 3-4 hours a night 9-12/1am once kids have gone to bed so my controller has taken a battering and is still working perfectly since I bought it. So no I don’t play once every two months you’re just destroying your controller probably when you rage quit.
Well if you had an elite series 2 the rubberized grips would start peling off after like 6 months, had to return mine over 4-6 times due to different issues. Buttons getting stuck, bad sticks, bad triggers bad bumpers and I'd say one of the worst is the rubberized grips peeling off
I’ve got an elite 2 halo special edition. Play about 2-3 hours a night for last 2 years with no problems at all. My rubber grips started pealing off my 1st elite but I bought that second hand and 1 corner was already starting to go.
Sooner or later, I usually get to the point where I basically just buy up the NXGEN nominees and develop them and/or loan them out until I have use for them.
I hope you scout them first a good few end up being dead wood and are only on the list because they’ve had a good season in their respective poor league.

My journeyman took me to Paderborn in the 2.Bundesliga granted they were in 5th when I took them over after my season finished in Brazil where I started.
