  1. Dude, my exhusband would do this as an abuse tactic and blame his "issues." This guy already sounds selfish AF in his own telling of what is happening. I can't imagine what this asshat is really like when hes not not telling his point of view.

  2. There is a medical condition where people act out in their sleep so it is possibly true without abuse but they haven’t tried too hard to solve it. Two twin beds pushed together are the same size as a king and everyone has their own sheets and blankets and therefore more likely to stay on their side of the bed.

  3. That Hathor only has power over men. How does that work? Does it require a Y chromosome? Not one (closeted) gay or lesbian? If it’s about sexual attraction, shouldn’t some of the male characters worship her and some just kind of like her?

  4. I read GWTW the first time when I was 12. I loved it, and read it many times over the next ten years. I moved on to other sorts of books and picked up the novel again to reread in my thirties.

  5. It depends on where the job is located. A 45 minute commute each way is normal here. Unless you work on the westside, you don’t want to live there unless “beach” is part of your identity because it guarantees a long commute to just about anywhere else. I live in the Foothills and love it up here, but it’s inconvenient to anywhere except Downtown LA, Glendale, Burbank, or Pasadena. On the other hand, we also get more sunshine than most of Los Angeles because we are above the marine layer. It’s a myth that there is sunshine on the beach. Marine layer burns off about lunch and comes in again about 4 so only people who don’t work get to enjoy sunshine there.

  6. I was believing this all the way up to "everyone saw it, including her boss and she got fired" because a cousin through marriage claimed a random reddit post was about SIL?** All the sympathy to OOP if this is real because her cousin isn't great either. Assuming it's not though I'm glad we jumped the shark before this became a part 1& 2 BORU.

  7. If you order multiple sets of something to wear online that are different colors, they are often different sizes. I bought six polos from Woman Within a few weeks ago. Two fit perfectly, two are a little snug so I can wear them while working from home but not outside, and two were sacks. Same size, same maker, different foreign factories.

  9. Every generation thinks they are "post history". Things have finally evolved to be cool and it will be that way into the distant future. I assure you every generation before us thought the same thing.

  10. As an old guy the TV people have been wearing their suits 4 sizes too small for 15 years, it’s just now drifting back to only a size or two too small. And what’s with blue/black suits and brown shoes?

  11. Yeah, I hate the brown shoes with everything. Also, the modern trend to only button a single button. That makes the suit less flattering on everyone.

  12. Well, my grandmother churned butter by hand. It was in a glass jar with a crank, so less labor than the wooden ones with a paddle, but still. She washed clothes using a washboard and a mangler. Those things caused lots of broken fingers and hands and sometimes arms back in the day. Better than beating clothes with a rock, but still. She never had to cook using a wood or coal fire. Her mother died when she was 11. Her father wouldn’t let her quit school so she did all the household chores afterwards. She drove herself and her little sister to school in an old Model T.

  13. That her father wouldn't let her quit school is practically feminist for the time. Of course she had to double or triple her workload at 11 years old...

  14. Yes, he was surprisingly ahead of his time. He died before I was born so I never met him.

  15. The dress is appropriate for either event, but you need to search for a petite size. This dress overwhelms you and hemming alone won't help. It's supposed to be an empire waist but it is down close to, or at, your true waist.

  16. For a true petite, which the OP most certainly is, that doesn't solve the problem of the torso being way too long.

  17. I agree. The minidress thing only works with dresses without defined waists.

  18. I have found journaling really helpful when I can’t sleep. I right everything down, generally at 2 am, then sleep. In the morning, I throw away the pages without looking at them.

  19. I haven't done that in awhile but it usually does help. I think I worry in going to get more awake sitting up and writing. I have notebooks up on notebooks of these lol dating back to middle school. I like to keep them. I will try this again thanks for the reminder!

  20. The very first wedding I attended, the bridesmaids wore copper and the groomsman wore grey suits with copper cummerbunds or vests. Only wedding that I attended where both bride and groom wore white. This was about 1974. Have never seen a prettier wedding than this first one but I was also about 12.

  21. I saved this post so I can buy it when I’m employed again.

  22. Too white for the wedding to my eyes, and will definitely appear white in photos

  23. I think the dress is very pretty but I would go with something darker as it may photograph as very white if there is bright sunshine that day.

  24. If the neighborhood has apartment buildings, it’s not considered residential under California law or so I learned when I made a u turn, got a ticket and had to go to traffic school.

  25. Well, I look at the rising generation and I see so much less sexism and racism than in prior generations and am filled with hope. They will leave the world better for their time here. There’s no doubt that it’s much harder starting out now than any time in my lifetime and I feel so sorry for the bad times that they are going through and will have to face. But the dinosaurs of my parents’ generation will soon die off. They are having their last hurrah now. The pendulum will swing back.

  26. Back in the 90’s, there was a touring exhibition of some of the pieces from the Degenerate Art exhibition. They had some photos alongside of the paintings of the Nazi exhibitions showing how they hung the art for maximum mockery. I had not previously been aware of German Expressionism as a movement and came away from the exhibit a major fan.

  27. My last manager tried to show us how to handle a difficult customer. He took one of the calls from the tech, put the call on speaker so that we can all listen in (he had the rest of the office stop taking calls so we can "learn") .

  28. When I managed a call center, my policy was that it was always appropriate to hang up on abusive customers as long as you sort of said something like, “clearly, this is a bad time for this discussion. I’m going to disconnect the call. Please feel free to call again when you’re feeling better.”

  29. Wait until he hears about 12 years old with C cups ( I was one of them).

  30. My first bra at 11 was a C cup. By high school, I was wearing an ill fitting DDD because that was the largest size available in the department stores in our small town

  31. I don’t understand how anyone can say a G cup isn’t large boobs? No matter the band size, they are the same amount bigger? That said, I agree with you that how boobs sit on the body make a big difference in appearance. I don’t think that they make a big difference in inconveniences, though.

  32. Am I the only person who DIDNT have a sweet 16 or graduation party?

  33. People on AITA get upset when the birthday boy/girl can’t choose their favorite restaurant and I’m like, y’all got to go out? In my family we didn’t even get to pick what mom made for dinner on our birthdays. I’m not sure some redditors have the greatest grasp of different financial situations.

  34. I got to pick between a few items easy to make for large groups so it was generally tacos or spaghetti.

  35. My 16th was pretty much the same as every party I had from age 12. My 3 best friends came over. My 3 older brothers and their families came over. I baked my own cake because my mom hated baking. We made tacos and ate cake. My friends and I helped tidy up after dinner, then everyone old enough played board or card games or both until midnight and then my friends went home. Brothers probably went home earlier since they had small children. That was pretty much the pattern until college, though nieces and nephews joined in games as they got old enough

  36. One of the ways around this is to look for dresses for tall people. If the dress is made to be above the knee for someone tall, they may be at or slightly below the knee on you. My inseam is so small that this trick sometime works for pants. Capris for tall person equals pants that don’t need to be hemmed for me.

  37. I love the idea of a kazoo send off! Was there a specific song requested?
