I have two numbers, one on WhatsApp and the other on WAB. I will stop using the number on WAB and would like to change the number to my personal one on WA. Does the “change my number” feature, migrate/merge or replace? If i use it will i have the chats from WAB alongside the chats on WA?

Looks like it's a new beta issue, see this twitter post:
This looks like the correct answer.
On the download page (
I have read it. I'm aware that migrations don't always work. I'm sure WhatsApp is aware of it too. Backup-related stuff has been in bad shape for a while, I wish it would be fixed before introducing new features like end to end encrypted backups. I've not been able to back up my chats for years; I rely on full iPhone backup for this (which works well), but it's not ideal.
It looks like this is being worked on:
I'll look into this.
Mute that thread.
Most likely this:
Block and report is the right way.
What ticket number did you have with the official WhatsApp support?
It looks like it's randomized between Giphy and Tenor:
It's a good question and unfortunately I don't know the answer about what happens with non-contact chats in this case. I hope somebody who does know will be able to help here.
You need to keep paying the telco for your phone number or this can happen. If you change numbers, you should use the change number feature. Now it's too late.
Ohh man, but atleast i want them to log out from my groups they would make some serious damage to me if they commit something stupid
Yeah, I think this is one of the worst "features" of WhatsApp.
"To help you remember your PIN, WhatsApp will prompt you to periodically enter your PIN. Unfortunately, there isn’t an option to disable this without disabling the two-step verification feature." (From
Not a supported feature right now unfortunately.
There are some weird restrictions around leaving and rejoining groups (
You should be able to see your list of blocked numbers by going to Settings -> Privacy -> Blocked. That way you can see if the number is still blocked or not.
Agree re: whatsapp support. That's why I created this account haha.
Back up my iPhone that has my Apple ID and iCloud on it to my computer? Cud I can’t access my iPhone the screen stopped working also how would I get the chats to my new phone ?
Depending on your computer the software will be built in (for Mac) or you will need to download something (for PC). You will need to unlock the phone after you plug it into your computer to slow the backup. If touchid or faceid is still working, that should be sufficient to unlock.
Face ID works it’s that when I swipe up to unlock it doesn’t work
Hm, I don't know if that will work. If not you may need to get the screen repaired or something.
Yeah if you reactive on your old phone you will see your old messages there.
Does the +62 number it came from have something like dog paws as the profile picture?
The most important thing is to not give the six digit code to anyone else, even a "friend" who says they accidentally sent you a code. If it's a hacker, this is a common tactic they might use to compromise your account.
I can go back to the beginning of chats but only on my phone. On web, the recent changes make it so you can only go back a little while.
Be careful with people DMing you about this stuff. They might be suggesting you install scam software that compromises your account.
Great question, I'd also like to know the answer here. I'm also not sure how much of it is WhatsApp and how much of it is the operating system.
There's no merge functionality that I'm aware of, so I think it will only replace. Use with caution.
It depends. Some of these extensions are benign and don't cause any problems, but some will compromise your account and start sending spam. Because of these issues, WhatsApp may ban you if they detect you're using third-party software.
