  1. Stupid ne bought a new pc 2 yesrs ago: 12900KS, RTX3090Ti Supreme X. Paid too much ... for sure.

  2. How do you actually measure that? Using software? Hardware?

  3. Thanks, Mines a 2wd, right now it’s just an idea, I just want to have a plan for if that 4l60 quits, do you have pictures of your truck lol it sounds awesome!

  4. Since it sounds like you have plenty of time, you can start looking for deals now and take advantage of them when you find them and not feel pressured to buy something quick because your 'burb has broken down.

  5. The reason that we didn't have a continuing lunar program is because once we had won the race to the moon the politicians could find "better" uses for the money and what money there was for the space program "needed" to be spread around to other states.

  6. That's it: money and political will. The US went as a way to demonstrate to the world that democracy was superior to communism, and once we got there, that was accomplished.

  7. I couldn't possibly explain how much attention the vent windows get. It's really an interesting thing.

  8. Well, '67 is the only year that came with them.

  9. For starters, that rear end is most likely junk. Depending on how they welded the spiders, you might not be able to get it apart again. Also, 8.8s aren't ideal for drifting, because they use c-clip axles and don't tolerate side loading very well.

  10. Ditto on the 9". That's literally one of the strongest types of diffs available, especially for the size. And there is so much aftermarket support available for them that you can set one up however you want.

  11. Aside from the other comments, this is not even a Linux problem. It's a Python problem, so this is not the right place to ask this question.

  12. You can boot into Linux using a live ISO image written to a USB stick, and use ClamAV to scan and, potentially, remove the malware. There are no guarantees that it will be effective, though.

  13. But if you've never used ClamAV before, be warned: I tried it once, and it flagged literally thousands of ordinary, legitimate, uninfected files as containing a virus. In my experience, it is completely unreliable.

  14. A quick google actually found a replacement dash for a little over $150 for your car.

  15. According to the website, shipping is extra because it's oversized, and then there's the cost to install it. Make sure they cover those expenses, too.

  16. I recommend taking a long, hard look at how the body is attached to the frame. That'll tell you whether the person who built it knew what they were doing.

  17. Based on that picture of the trunk, it looks like there's a lot of rot along the bottom of the back window. If that's the case, it'll probably be a pretty expensive repair unless you have good metal fab skills. You can use that in your negotiations.

  18. I just had to use Clonezilla to copy the entire contents of the "C:" drive (to another larger hard drive) on a PC I was setting up when I realized there wasn't going to be enough room for all the software I needed to install. It was a completely fresh install of everything, including the OS, so I could've just reinstalled it all, but Clonezilla clearly saved me several tedious hours of work.

  19. Agreed, my most common use case, too. It's definitely better than the built-in capabilities of every Linux installer I've seen so far (with much more fine-grained control).

  20. I have a 20-gallon Craftsman that I got second-hand more than 40 years ago. It's worked great for nearly everything I've needed.

  21. I forgot to mention something else: Avoid the so-called "oil-less" compressors. The cylinders can wear out quickly if it ingests any particulates. An oiled compressor (specifically one with a cast iron cylinder block) is much more durable and can tolerate a lot of abuse.

  22. Yes I'm not going to convince IT. I want to make compilation of data & info detailing why they're wrong and pass it along to my manager, who will then run it up the chain.

  23. And if your IT department needs some expertise with knowledge about Linux, maybe they could tap into your team. Who knows -- maybe the Linux admin could be co-located right there in your division. It could also be mutually beneficial by helping your team develop more secure embedded software (security in IOT applications has frequently been overlooked or inadequately implemented). Maybe you could sell that as another potential benefit.

  24. The argument though, is IT should be supporting the needs of the business, but more often than not, IT wants to control the business.

  25. This is the best answer here. I've worked at a couple of large organizations where the IT departments thought of themselves as their "customer" rather than the employees. They didn't understand that they were there to support the end users and not dictate how the employees had to do their jobs, and their managers did nothing to alter that presumption.

  26. Ditto on the '57 Chevy (the 2-door Coupe, to be specific) as the most beautiful American-made car from the 1950s.

  27. I'd actually hand it to the Nomad if I had to pick the Chevy... But damn that was a great and iconic design.

  28. The Nomad would be #2 on my list. And it's a close second.

  29. Only slightly less well known than never betting against a Sicilian when death is on the line.

  30. I wonder how many people are totally confused by this post. 😆

  31. Only excuse for a quick release is if its a track car or a previous totaled car. That being said my daily definitely does have a quick release

  32. There's another potential reason: when the car is difficult to get into/out of. There are many examples of factory-built cars that came with steering wheels that flipped up or steering columns that could lean to the side to achieve the same result.

  33. I hear you, but i think the c4 is so old by now most of them are falling apart. Every one I have had my hands on is a rickety piece of shit and unreliable . You need to know something about them so you don’t get a 4+3 or crossfire injection. Don’t get me wrong, I like them and they can look great. I just think the c5 and 6 are perfect. Track ready out of the box. The lt1 is a great motor but nobody nowadays is swapping one into their s13 or z33 or rx7 or whatever. Am I wrong?

  34. Well, I have an '85 (with the 4+3), and yes, there are some gremlins that need attention now and again, but I don't have any qualms about making mods to it since it's not worth a lot of money like older (or newer) models are.

  35. Holy shit sorry dude. It’s a cool car but I don’t think I’d want to drift one. Also I’m pretty sure the c5 and c6 have fully adjustable suspension stock

  36. No apologies necessary. I know the 4+3 has a poor reputation, and I've also seen several that were in pretty sad condition, too. But since the OP wants something for drifting, you have to assume it's going to get heavily modified, and then it'll get beat-up in competition (not intentionally, of course). And the OP did say he wanted something budget-friendly as well.

  37. Individual try/catch blocks is my fallback. There are about 30 properties, so I'm trying to come up with a better way (which is why I asked here).

  38. What if you put the property assignment code in a separate function (with the error handling coded once) and call it from within a loop, using 2 lists for the source and destination properties?

  39. Daaaaamn ... a big block Chevelle SS! You're talking my language! You need to post pics of your progress.

  40. I used to have a flatbed trailer (to carry a car as well), and it was made from an old mobile home frame. To support the weight, we had to put down 1/8" steel sheets for the bed (it needed to be thick enough to support the point loads at each tire), and bracing was added to stiffen it all (otherwise, it would have flexed far too much).

  41. I was thinking the OP forgot to escape the parentheses, but the raw string method is probably less prone to errors.

  42. Neither FAT nor exFAT supports file permissions, so Linux will have a problem running on that for the \root partition (although the \boot partition is typically FAT32, which is normally taken care of by the installer). From what you described, it sounds like your laptop should still run Linux just fine.

  43. I almost forgot to ask, is your laptop 64-bit capable? If not, you need to make sure the distro is 32-bit, but that will severely limit your choices.

  44. I only use postgres and it has NOTIFY/LISTEN which is exactly what you need. Check if mysql offers something similar.

  45. That also sounds like something you could implement using a trigger.

  46. How can it not have Radio Paradise!!! :)

  47. I know, right? That was the first thing I looked for in the list of stations!
